About Me

Hello, my name is Vito and I offer electric guitar lessons for you. Although I am only 16, I have been playing guitar for a little over 10 years, I am a guitarist in 3 bands and have had a lot of fun with this instrument and being creative. That is exactly what I want to pass on to you.
I write my own songs on the guitar and improvise in a jazz band on all standards. My favorite styles are rock, jazz and fusion.

In my guitar lessons you won't learn how to simply play songs, as there are enough of those on YouTube. I will show you how to improvise creatively on the electric guitar and also how to write your own songs.

Education

Since I'm only 16, I'm still at high school. I play in a band there every week and plan to study music after I graduate. However, I'm already excited about passing on the guitar to others.

Experience / Qualifications

I have been playing guitar for a little over 10 years and am a permanent guitarist in 3 bands. One of the bands is a jazz band in which I improvise a lot. In the second band I write my own songs and have a drummer who accompanies them. These are often instrumental pieces in which I sometimes play several voices. In the third group we mostly play songs and also write some together.

My guitar teaching model is based on books and the approach of guitarist and pedagogue Abel Carlevaro.
In some way, it is about understanding and analyzing the nature of the movements we make to play the guitar in the simplest way possible.
Just as to build a building you need a good foundation, to build a system of skills that allows us to be musicians, we need to know and practice in a conscious way all the movements we do. These movements are what we do when we play just one open string or what we need to do to play the most difficult piece of the repertoire.

I pay special attention to achieve a good balance in teaching. I try to make the student develop at the same time the techniques to play the guitar and the artistic sensibility needed to make music. Because no matter the technical level of the student, my classes will always be oriented to making music and to be able to enjoy the processes that the musical activity involves. A simple guitar piece takes on another dimension if the basic principles of musical interpretation are applied.

After getting to know and listening to how my students play I propose a short and medium term work plan. This plan is presented taking into account the objectives and wishes of each student. Exercises and pieces are included that will also allow to know the repertoire of the guitar. Therefore, each work plan includes specific and general contents.

Practicing classical guitar for 27 years, graduated from the National Conservatory of Limoges, I teach guitar (beginner to advanced levels).

My method is distinguished by a perfect combination of high standards and attention paid to the pleasure of playing.

Passionate about music theory (rhythms, musical notations and other aspects that seem tedious to many), I know how to transmit this taste for musical technique.

The pleasure of play develops when you feel your progress, and these come with regular work. I therefore ask for attendance and regularity of at least 1 hour of practice per day. I teach keyboards including piano, synth, organ, electric piano as well as percussion and vocals. I teach composition, arrangement and production and tend to use my voice a lot to realize melodic and rhythmic ideas with great piano support. I have developed a technique to arrange and produce with the "beatbox" as well. I think it's important to motivate students with projects live or in the studio, preferably with other musicians.
I also teach aural training in recognizing intervals between notes, rhythmic and melodic dictation, and recognizing chords and keys. I teach improvisation on keyboards, voice or percussion using methods that involve scales and melodic patterns applied in practice.
