About Me
Hi! I'm Anthony!
I offer personalised one-to-one lessons in Chess, Maths and English for children, teenagers and adults of all abilities.

I've been playing Chess since I was 5 years old and am currently rated around 1800 on Chess.com. After many years of playing and studying the game, I have developed a strong understanding of chess fundamentals, tactics, strategy and practical game play. I enjoy helping beginners learn the game from the ground up, as well as helping more experienced players improve and understand their games more deeply.

Alongside Chess, I have experience tutoring Maths and English online on a one-to-one basis, helping students understand difficult topics, practise their skills and build confidence. I also have experience teaching Chess and managing classrooms of children, so I'm comfortable working with different ages, personalities and learning styles.

My approach is patient, friendly and personalised. I believe people learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and aren't afraid of making mistakes. Rather than simply giving someone an answer, I aim to help them understand why something works so they can become more confident and independent learners.

Whether you're looking for support with Maths or English, exam preparation, Chess coaching, or simply want to develop your skills, I'll tailor lessons around your individual needs and goals.

I'm happy to work with children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners through to more experienced learners.

I'm looking forward to helping you or your child learn, improve and build confidence!

Passionate about chess since childhood and a teacher by profession, I offer online courses aimed primarily at beginner and intermediate players who wish to progress in a structured way while retaining the pleasure of playing.

My goal is not simply to teach you moves or openings to memorize. My main aim is to help you understand why a move is good, how to construct a plan, and how to identify tactical possibilities on the chessboard.

The courses are tailored to your level, age and goals.

Depending on your needs, we can work:
- the rules of the game and the fundamental principles;
- the development of the pieces and the principles of opening;
- tactics: forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, typical checkmates;
- the strategy and the construction of a plan;
- the middle of the game;
- the essential finals;
- the calculation of variants;
- time management;
- the analysis of your own games.

An important part of my method involves analyzing the games you've played with you. Together, we look for key moments, mistakes, missed opportunities, and the best alternatives.

For beginners, we progress gradually in order to build good habits from the very first games.

For intermediate players, we can work more specifically on their weaknesses, delve deeper into certain tactical or strategic themes, and analyze their games in detail.

The lessons are interactive: you play, you think, you suggest moves and we analyze the positions together.

Children, teenagers and adults are welcome.

I offer relaxed, supportive chess lessons for beginners and developing players of all ages.

My approach is about more than simply learning the rules or memorising openings. I use chess to help people build confidence, concentration, patience, decision-making, resilience and problem-solving skills while learning the game at their own pace.

I particularly enjoy working with people who may feel nervous about learning something new, have struggled with traditional teaching styles, or simply want a more patient and encouraging way to learn chess.

Lessons are adapted to the individual. Some people learn best by playing, some by talking through positions, and others by breaking the game down step by step.

There is no pressure to compete or already be good at chess. Complete beginners are very welcome.

My aim is simple: help you understand the board, enjoy the game and become more confident in finding your own moves.

Chess has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old. I grew up with this game, participated in many competitions and, over time, I discovered one thing above all: I love sharing it.

Today, I want to pass on this passion to those who wish to discover chess or simply become better, whether they are children, teenagers or adults.

For children, my primary goal is for chess to remain enjoyable. Through the game, I help them learn to concentrate, take time to think before acting, anticipate, and better manage their emotions and impulsiveness. I adapt to their personality and pace, including when a child struggles to maintain focus for extended periods.

For teenagers, the focus is more on progression: understanding their mistakes, developing their tactical reflexes, learning to build a plan and, for those who wish, increasing their Elo rating on Chess.com.

For adults: whether you are starting from scratch or already play regularly, we can work together on your weaknesses, your games and your goals to allow you to progress while having more fun playing.

I am a patient, smiling, and passionate person. I prefer a lesson where we exchange ideas, where the student reflects and searches for themselves, rather than a lesson where we simply recite variations.

My goal is for you to finish each session having learned something... and with the desire to play again.

Hi, I'm Saiya! I have been playing competitive chess my whole life. As a child, I played and worked at chess for many years before finally having a breakthrough as a teenager, and I have continued to improve, even into my thirties as a PhD student with little spare time. As an adult, I have built community in chess and started giving lessons to people I met. I have encountered many different teaching techniques over the years, and have had the opportunity to see what works and what doesn't.

All too many chess coaches rely on students to identify their own strengths and weaknesses and propose their own lesson plans. Of course, students are not always best positioned to identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and part of the function of a coach should be to assess the student and help them develop a study plan.

I have five years of experience teaching linguistics at the university level, and I am accustomed to making lesson plans and using proven pedagogical techniques. As a coach, I will identify your strengths and weaknesses based on seeing your games and hearing your thought process. I will then create study plans consisting of games, puzzles, and interesting positions specifically tailored for you.

Improve your chess skills with personalized lessons designed for your level and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner, an intermediate player, or an experienced tournament player, each lesson is adapted to your individual needs.

We will work on tactical patterns, strategy, opening principles, calculation, positional understanding, endgames, and practical decision-making. We can also analyze your own games to identify mistakes, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and develop a clear plan for improvement.

With 20+ years of experience as a competitive chess player and coach, including participation in World and European Youth Championships and international adult tournaments, I focus on making lessons both structured and engaging.

The goal is not simply to learn chess moves, but to understand the game, think independently, and improve step by step.
