In my opinion, Geography is one of the most important subjects to study as it gives a global perspective on current, real life matters. It also drastically improves one’s ability for impressive dinner party conversation ;)

I can break down and explain all topics of school geography in a simple, accessible way. I understand that some complex concepts can be hard to grasp in a classroom, thus I can identity where students may be falling down with their understanding and tackle those areas first.

Both Human and Physical Geography require a specific style of essay writing that took me a while to master, but going through that process has helped me to teach exam techniques in a straightforward way. I can create custom presentations for students and walk them through content they may be struggling with, or go over school work that needs elaborating.

My teaching style values the personal engagement of the student so that they may form independent opinions and ideas that will make them excel. Discussion and debate are a key aspect of forming this confidence, as well as fun and interactive activities to cement understanding.

Message me with any questions or requests, I can’t wait to get involved and help you understand the world!

About Me
Hey! I’m a student graduating with A*A*A from Cheltenham Ladies College, going on to study Human Geography at LSE.

I now have more spare time than hobbies to fill it with, and decided I wanted to do something constructive with my time. I am incredibly empathetic and enjoy helping others any way possible so teaching has always come naturally to me.

I used to really struggle with essay writing that conveyed my ideas in a way that hit the mark schemes, however I’ve had some of the best teaching at both GCSE and A Level that has allowed me to amend these difficulties.

Thus, I understand how daunting school can be to students who are less confident and I believe I can teach in a way that illuminates their potential, to both the student initially, and then the examiner.
Education
I am graduating from Cheltenham Ladies College with A*A*A predictions.
I will be reading Human Geography at the London School of Economic and Political Sciences starting Sep ‘22.
Experience / Qualifications
Although I am young, I have engaged with student led societies at school, given lecture style presentations and provided tutoring for students in younger years. My school classes were discussion based and student led meaning I had an opportunity to learn how to communicate complex ideas to peers.

Hi! I’m an English nerd graduating from Cheltenham Ladies College with an A* prediction. I love exploring the nitty gritty of English literature, poetry and comparative analysis in an exciting learning environment. While discussion and debate are integral for success in English, I also value the importance of strong exam technique to give confident expression of complex ideas in essays.

I can create custom presentations on topics students need support with, so that I may guide them through materials at their own pace. Taking a more personal approach than a classroom environment often allows students to engage more deeply with the materials. Thus, personal engagement is something I highly value when teaching, as when students learn to develop their own opinions and ideas it becomes easier for them to be confident in essays.

I can teach anything from the basics of English language for younger students, all the way to the secrets of success at Literature A Level.

I also enjoy both poetry and creative writing and am well practiced in both writing and analysing different forms of writings. All I require is that the student be aware of what they need to work on and be motivated to challenge themselves.

Hi, I'm Polly! I graduated with a first-class BA in Geography from the University of Oxford and I am about to start my MA at SOAS University of London. My experience includes teaching English in China for a year, over four years tutoring Geography from KS3 to undergraduate level, and teaching A-level Geography at an international school.

Geography is more than just maps; it's the study of the world and how humans interact with it, making it essential for understanding our interconnected planet and the challenges we face. This class ranges from physical geography, such as Earth's features and natural processes, to human geography, including population, urban development, and cultural landscapes. Students will develop critical skills like map reading, spatial awareness, analytical thinking, and research while exploring global issues such as climate change and sustainability. By learning geography, students gain a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures and environments, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate and address the complex challenges of our world.

As a qualified tutor for the National Tutoring Programme, I've developed strategies to address learning gaps and support students with SEND needs. My expertise covers human and physical Geography, ensuring comprehensive support across a range of topics. I tailor my approach to each student’s needs, focusing on content mastery, exam techniques, and revision strategies, with follow-up exercises to reinforce learning and build confidence.
