Music Theory - how to read music, understand it completely, and use it for performing, composing, learning.
No matter where you are in your musical journey, theory is necessary to gain musical freedom. Even knowing the basics allows an aspiring musician to start creating arrangements, compose, transpose, read music better, look for different colours in harmony, and much more.
I have designed a course that will bring students through the aspects of theory, notation, harmony, structure and form to help them become more fluent in reading, composing or performing.

About Me
Hey! I'm Elize and I've been immersed in music all of my life.I started studying music at the age of three because of my mother who's a choir conductor and singer so I would join her in choirs at that age - later I was part of many choir collectives, singing festivals and vocal performances. At the age of five I started playing cello in music school and started to truly learn theory and music history. Three years later I started learning piano, too. I've been studying, performing, writing ever since - and I've been professionally teaching cello, piano, theory and composition for the last six years.
I've performed as a soloist, chamber musician and part of an orchestra. It's difficult to think of a genre I haven't performed for an audience. Not only have I been involved with academic music but I've been part of big bands, jazz ensembles, function bands and rock bands. I've been a session musician and a lone entertainer - all of these experiences have made me a better musician and I choose to focus my experience to help others on their musical journey.
I just graduated from one of the best music universities in the world - the Royal College of Music and, while it was a challenging experience, it gave me a lot of valuable insight on how we best process musical information and what we sometimes do that's wasteful.

Feel like picking up a new hobby? Want to refresh your knowledge? Looking for a new way to be creative?
Why not learn how to read and write music - who knows, maybe you're a composer at heart?
I have created a seven step program that takes you through the basics and teaches how to recognize clefs, range, and expands the limits of possibilities. While day 1 is an introduction on the build of music and what notes are, by day 5 you already understand how key signatures work and how to write down a tune that you hear somewhere.
Or, maybe, you have an instrument and always wanted to be able to pick up a piece of music and be able to play it? Or, perhaps, it is time to become the composer and notate your creations to better remember and share? Whatever it might be, learning to read and write music gives you a new, exciting skill and opens a door to a whole new world!
I can't imagine living my life without this beautiful instrument and have been studying for more than 20 years already.
I can help you learn proper posture, expression, technique, how to save energy, how to stay relaxed and enjoy the music!
After just finishing my baccalaureate in cello performance and education, and my postgraduate in performance, I am even more able to help my students excel. I've worked with ages 4 - 70 and all my students have had wonderful progress. I've taught hobbyists, aspiring professionals and competitors.
If you are interested in learning the art of playing cello, give it a try! You won't regret it!

Private guitar lessons for every level: from basic chords to out of the box improvisationHey!
My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels.
For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that!
Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;)
I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example.
The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else.
Be sure to let me know if you have any questions and I will answer as soon as possible.
See you soon!
Richard
PS: my specified hours are a guideline, if this does not suit you, you can certainly send us a message and we will try to arrange something :)

Electronic Music Production – Ableton Live, Synthesis, Sound Design, Composition, Mixing, Mastering, and Live PerformanceHi, my name is Jim.
I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. For me, making music is about building the skills and mindset to bring creative ideas to life and I’m passionate about helping others do the same.
As Malvae, I have written, sung, produced, mixed, and performed my own music, reaching #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathering millions of streams, and featuring in films like the upcoming documentary King of the Streets and a Netflix series.
One of the highlights of my artistic journey was the Amazonas Project, where I traveled deep into the Amazon rainforest to record and transform natural sounds into a full-length concept album, blending storytelling, sound design, and music into a single experience. I had the honour of headlining my own show at Melkweg Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands' most iconic venues, and curated my own events while performing immersive, self-built live sets with visuals. I’ve also taught technical music skills at professional facilities such as Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum.
Music has taken me to places I never imagined, from the Amazon rainforest to some of the most iconic stages and I'm excited to help you build your own creative path. In my lessons, I offer structured, personalised education in music production, composition, sound design, mixing, mastering, and live performance.
Areas we can explore together include:
- Developing advanced music production workflows and creative problem-solving techniques
- Composition, arrangement, and innovative sound design
- Professional recording techniques, mixing, and mastering fundamentals
- Synthesis and sampling techniques, from basics to complex sound design
- Live performance design using Ableton Live, with optional visual integration via Resolume
- Applying music theory practically within electronic, experimental, and contemporary music contexts
Lessons are tailored to your individual goals and are available both online and in-person at my studio in Amsterdam. For online students, I use specialised tools that allow us to collaborate in real-time with HD audio quality.
My own musical path often started by recording sounds from my travels around the world and blending them with synthesizers and my voice. I found my unique sound this way, and I’m excited to help you find yours.
(And don’t worry, we won’t have to go to the ends of the earth to find it. I’ll show you how to transform the sounds you already have into something extraordinary.)
Whether you are just beginning your musical journey or looking to refine and deepen your craft, I look forward to working with you and helping you grow through structured, creative, and personalised electronic music education.

Age and musical preferences are not limitations; with qualitative daily practice, rather than sheer quantity, progress can be swiftly observed. 💪🏼 🎶
My approach to classical guitar lessons is centered on tailoring them to each student's individual needs and potential. I prioritize fostering enthusiasm and motivation as primary tools for conveying technical and theoretical concepts, alongside a deep love for music. Lessons are open to students of all ages and skill levels. 🚀
The focus of the course revolves around the joy of playing music. Your favorite genres and pieces will take center stage, with a thorough exploration of their codes and secrets. Together, we'll delve into technical exercises and learn to play pièces of your choice or mine, enriching your repertoire and enhancing your playing style. 🤩
For example, we can reimagine pieces by applying advanced techniques such as the CAGED system, incorporating new chords, positions, and techniques like arpeggios and fingerstyle playing. This expands the instrument's capabilities and your playing skills, ensuring continuous progress and improvement. 👨🏻🏫
Upon request, the program also includes theoretical studies, which are presented in an accessible manner suitable for both beginners and experienced musicians. Exercises, pieces, and theoretical explanations are structured in a progressive order of difficulty.🔥
The theoretical program covers a range of topics, including guitar tuning, chord theory, scales and modes, finger picking techniques, strumming patterns, metronome practice, learning favorite songs, improvisation, harmony, melody, and rhythm theory.⚡️
Together, we'll embark on a musical journey tailored to your goals and aspirations, ensuring a fulfilling and enriching experience with the classical guitar.🔝☄️

These sessions also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they have the advantages of direct (example: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time), with additional advantages (ex: of notes on the chat, which can be reread afterwards). In this context, these videoconference sessions for which you have requested me, seem to arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). At your request, I therefore continue to offer them.
