Hello, I am Laís!
I am a pianist and dedicated piano teacher with advanced academic training in both Brazil and Belgium, currently completing my second Master’s degree at LUCA School of Arts under the guidance of Sylvia Thereza, a respected pianist and former student of the great Maria João Pires. My musical journey has also taken me to Sweden through an exchange program, and I have been fortunate to receive several prestigious scholarships along the way, supporting both my artistic and academic development.

I have over 10 years of teaching experience, including 6 years working extensively with online students from different backgrounds and levels. Throughout this time, I have helped students achieve meaningful goals, including successful admission into a German music university. My approach is both structured and flexible: I focus on building a solid technical foundation while nurturing musical expression, always adapting to each student’s pace and personality.

Lessons take place mostly in the heart of Leuven, and I also offer online lessons to students anywhere in the world. My online teaching is known for its high quality, clarity, and effectiveness, creating a focused and engaging learning environment where students can make real and consistent progress.

I aim to create a warm, supportive space where students feel comfortable, motivated, and inspired to grow musically :-)

Since I was 4 years old, piano has taken a big place in my life and heart, because my father has taught me ever since.
I am extremely excited to share my passion with interested people, whatever their age!
I pay a lot of attention to the position at the piano, so that no injuries occur. I also talk a lot about musical lines and how to produce a good sound on the piano. If you have not taken solfège, I am very happy to help with that as well along with the piano study.

I have taught to people of all ages for 6 years and I have experience with both beginners and high levelled players. Lessons are individually and carefully adapted to the student’s age, level, and desired outcome.
From the youngest students, to whom the music and playing the basics are served playfully based on making the music an important part of their development to advanced students with whom we can refine all the musical details and prepare for professional careers.

About myself:
I have been playing both guitar and bass guitar for 8 years. I also have a solid foundation in music theory. I took lessons with Kristof Neyens (rock school leuven) for several years, and now I would like to share my experience.

Classes:
Depending on your preference, we can draw up a lesson plan together with individual assignments. I also try to work as much as possible with the genres that you like to listen to yourself, this is of course more motivating (after all, you don't want to try to teach Mozart to a Metal fan ;))

My approach is certainly not like that of the 'music theory' at the academy. From your first lesson you will immediately start playing songs. I only use music theory if it is really necessary or if you would like to delve into it.

Practical:
I follow distance education so I can actually go at any time of the week, online lessons are also a possibility.

Voice Lessons will focus on five major areas of study: register balance, breathing, range building, body posture, and repertoire. During your lessons you will learn exercises designed to balance the registers of chest, middle and head voice. These exercises and the knowledge of music theory will help you accomplish any music goal you set for yourself.

I can help you! I've been playing piano for about 15 years now after studying Pop & Jazz, and I've performed in a variety of genres. I also have a diploma in Electronic Music Production from Point Blank Music School, and I'm currently working as a keyboardist and producer for the pop group. I primarily play pop music, but we can certainly explore other genres as well.

For piano lessons, I recommend 30 minutes so we can cover new topics each lesson, which you can then practice at home. For producing/mixing, 60 minutes is more suitable if you want to master it faster, but you can certainly learn it in 30 minutes per lesson.

Upon entering UNIRIO, he started taking lessons with the pianist and composer Claudio Dauelsberg. He holds a degree in piano from the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in Germany, where he was a student of Professor Kaya Han. He spent 2 years in Portugal, where he taught at the Academia de Música de Almada. He also received guidance from Professor and pianist Manuel Araújo of the Academia Internacional de Música Aquilles Delle Vigne in Coimbra. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Piano Performance at LUCA School of Arts in Belgium, with the renowned pianist Sylvia Thereza as his teacher.

He has been awarded in national and international competitions, such as the VII Sardoal Young Talent Award (2nd Prize - ex-aequo in the Piano Solo category; 2nd Prize and Best Portuguese Duo in the Piano Duo category), the Prof. Dichler-Competition 2022 in Vienna (2nd Prize - ex aequo in the Piano Duo category), the I National Piano Competition of the Villa-Lobos Music School (Honorable Mention) in Rio de Janeiro, and the XXVI Souza Lima Piano Competition (Honorable Mention) in São Paulo.

His classes are intended for anyone who wants to start learning music theory and piano or those who already have basic or advanced knowledge.
