Bee Creative was founded and is directed by Emily Hornsby - Martinez, a qualified primary school and music teacher, originally from England.

Emily started teaching instrumental lessons at the age of seventeen in London, England and started her own company in 2010.

Emily has extensive experience in preparing students for ABRSM exams and a 100% pass rate record.

She competed in various piano competitions in London, receiving medals for 2nd and 1st place.
She earned a Bachelor of Music with Honours degree at City University, London, specialising in classical and film composition with a performance module in piano and voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Emily then completed a Post Graduate teaching qualification with a specialism in music at the Institute of Education, London.

Emily moved to Switzerland in 2013 to continue her teaching career in an international environment.

Her two specialist instruments are voice and piano, however she also taught herself the guitar and the violin and can teach these at a beginner's level.

Two of Emily's greatest strengths are building excellent relationships with students and the ability to teach in a fun and creative way which engages the student.

All classes at Bee Creative are created by Emily and are accessible for every student and designed with a student-centered approach. Classes are fun, creative and allow students to express themselves artistically in a safe and happy environment.

I am a Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocal coach from Zimbabwe with over a decade of teaching and performance experience from leading a successful solo career and working as a music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz singing from Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU) Lausanne where I am currently studying a Masters in Jazz Pedagogy. I have also studied music in Dublin Ireland, where I acquired a Higher Certificate in Jazz and Contemporary Music from Newpark Music Centre's Berklee Track program which is facilitated by Berklee College of Music in Boston. I was the 2024 laureat of the Foundation Casino Barrier Award for talent and creativity and a 2018 winner of the Zimbabwean National Arts Council's National Arts Merit Award (NAMA). The clarinet is a fascinating instrument. Its woody timbre, its tessitura close to the voice offers a wide range of musical directions. Whether you want to play classical, jazz, song or world music, we will progress together to connect the song and the instrument. To develop the breath, to consolidate its supports, to feel the rhythm and to shine the melodies, that is the objective!

I am an accomplished classical pianist and experienced teacher who offers you piano lessons, at all levels from beginner to advanced, for fun or for serious ones (preparation for competitions, auditions, exams, etc.).

I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Montreal (Canada) and am also pursuing a second Master's degree at the HEM in Geneva. I also have another Master's degree from the first institution as well as a diploma in performance. My doctoral research focuses on the neuropsychology of music learning and its applications in performance.

Practicing the piano since the age of 4, I obtained in 2020 my DEM (Diploma of musical studies) from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Strasbourg (Alsace) (equivalent to the Swiss Certificate). I am now a bachelor's student in opera singing and piano at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne since September 2020. In parallel with my studies, I have always enjoyed sharing what I myself have the chance to continue to learn, so much so that I have been giving private piano lessons for 3 years.
