I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English. I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you. I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere. My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn. I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I adapt my teaching to the needs of students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD. In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally. Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure. I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation. I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels. The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons. I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature. One-on-one lessons on Apprentus are just for you. My journey with the bağlama began in my childhood and evolved into a lifelong career as a professional musician and state-certified educator. With over two decades of teaching experience in both public schools and private instruction, I offer a highly patient, structured, and adaptable approach to mastering the bağlama. Improvisation (Taqsim/Taksim): Learning how to express emotions freely and spontaneously within the rules of traditional maqams. Harmonic Exploration: Applying functional harmony to traditional bağlama playing. Alternate Tunings (Düzenler): Mastering various tunings (such as Bağlama düzeni, Bozuk/Kara düzen) to expand your playing style and versatility. Comprehensive Repertoire: Curating a personalized list of pieces, ranging from historical folk songs to contemporary arrangements, matching your skill level and musical taste.

I have been working as an ESL English teacher for almost six years now. My classes with my students are based on learning through play and movement. I usually follow a pattern in my lessons; introducing the topic by drilling with my students. Then, we practice by using games and worksheets. It also depends on the age and the development of each student. I always make sure the kids feel the language is relevant to their interest or their daily life as much as possible.
