Historical oboes, Historical Performance, reed-making
From 78.78 C$ /h
My lessons are designed to provide the student with latest historical performance trends, discussion of the historical treatises that inform our practice as musicians and of course, the oboes themselves. I teach baroque oboes, which includes treble oboe, oboe d'amore and oboe da caccia, which would be able to teach to beginners all the way up to advanced players. I can also give lessons to beginner modern oboe players. Additionally, my classes can also be about music theory, which can provide you with a better understanding of the context of the music you like. I also make my own reeds and can make reeds for you, or even better, teach you how to make them! It is a beautiful thing to do once you get the hang of it.
I obtained my bachelors and masters degrees from the Royal College of Music with honours, where I studied with Gail Hennessy. My aim in my life is to share the passion for early music with my students. There is an special joy I have experienced when I perform with early music ensembles; I would be delighted to be able to inspire people so they can also feel how happy we can be from performing music.
Please get in touch if you would like more information about me, my training, etc., and I will send my bio and CV your way.

About Me
I am a very enthusiastic person. The glass is always half-full with me. I wish to share the passion of early (in particular 17th-18th century) music with my students. My goal as your teacher is to provide you with the tools you need to be empowered as a musician, and you achieving success in the music field is my biggest pleasure. There is no ideal student for me, although I can tell you that motivation to succeed and constant, daily practise are key elements to progress faster in your learning.
Music is too good not to share. Here is a fun fact: Did you know that J.S. Bach's music is in space? It was sent as part of the contents of 'the golden disc' that was on board the space probes Voyager I and II. It is meant to reach intelligent life at some point (billions of years possibly). So the fact that we as humans decided to send music into space is testimony as to how embedded it is in our society. It is my privilege and my goal in my life to pass on everything I have learnt. After all, if future aliens can enjoy music, why can't we enjoy it ourselves? After all, we are the only civilisation in the universe to have created it!
