With over fifteen years experience, I specialise in teaching flute, piano and theory to students of all ages and levels. I enjoy getting to know each student personally and honing in on what makes them excited about learning music. I am also a freelance flutist, playing regularly with orchestras, and chamber ensembles in London, Europe and Australia. I have vast experience teaching in schools and universities, regularly preparing students for performances, Trinity College of Music examinations and music college auditions. I hold my BMusPerf Hons degree with First Class Honours in Flute Performance and my AMusA, LMusA and LTCL diplomas. I am happy to travel to students for a small fee.

My sessions would include; Set Design – How to read and analyze a script/story, what to look out for, and how to breakdown each scene. Creating visual research and mood boards and how to make clear initial sketches in whatever preferred medium, (pen, water colour Photoshop etc) An introduction to modelmaking, making basic furniture, and miniature rooms. Costume Design – Looking at costume history, how clothes have changed through the ages, and what shapes and silhouettes fit what eras. Costume drawings, looking at how to draw a clear design that could be understood by the whole creative team, as well as working with mixed media in costume design, ie. collage, photo shop. A look at costume making and sourcing, how I work as a designer when I am doing my own costumes, how I source, make or alter different items. Puppetry – An introduction to puppetry, the history and basic different types, marionette, bunraku etc. How to make your own bunraku puppet, all you would need is cardboard and gaffa tape. How to make shadow puppets out of card and straws, and how to rig a sheet and light so we can perform them.

Problem-solving, critical thinking, and learning how to overcome creative blocks will all be assisted with. I can help you with particular projects or generally, increase your creative capabilities. Observational drawing is a key skill for its use to improve 'Seeing' as opposed to looking as well as communicating Ideas. Beyond that, I encourage my student to go beyond painting to mixed media - sculpture - installation - film and photography. I am a Teaching Associate and Writing Tutor at a London University. I have been teaching History and Essay Writing to undergraduate students for the past three years. I also have experience tutoring children and teenagers to help them prepare for their exams (GCSE, A-Level, Brevet, Baccalauréat).
