About Me

As a university student, my passions for teaching, numbers, and sociology have shaped my academic journey. I’ve always loved exploring mathematical concepts, finding joy in the way numbers can explain so much about the world around us. This fascination has led me to tutor younger students, helping them grasp difficult math topics and discover the satisfaction of solving problems.
Alongside my love for math, I’ve developed a keen interest in sociology. Understanding the complexities of society and human behavior complements my mathematical skills and broadens my perspective. I enjoy discussing how numbers can reveal trends in social issues and contribute to a better understanding of our communities.
On a lighter note, I've also been playing the saxophone for five years! It’s a fun hobby that adds a creative outlet to my life. Balancing my interests in math, sociology, and music keeps me engaged and excited about learning and teaching. I strive to bring energy and enthusiasm to my studies and tutoring, making the learning experience enjoyable for everyone involved!

Tutoring with Jaz can range from ages four to sixteen.
With over 3 years of experience with private tutoring, I ensure to provide the best education possible for my students.

Sophia

I specialise in tutoring Geography up to Postgraduate level, Science A levels, GCSE and AS Maths, and Sociology and Politics up to A level. My goal is to keep students up to date and thinking up to a high standard both within and around their subjects. Coming from an underperforming state school, I successfully applied to King's College, University of Cambridge, where I achieved a First Class degree in Geography (Human and Physical). I will provide individually catered lesson and progress plans for subject lessons, and can also provide assistance with personal statements and Oxbridge mock interviews.

English Literature is an essential skill used for English gcse which I have spent a lot of detail looking in to and I - myself changed my own gcse grades drastically using a lot of time and grade specific research. I specialise very confidently in Macbeth, an Inspector calls and Christmas Carol, however research for other topics will be covered in detail before we begin sessions. I intend on supporting my students with mindmaps, pushing them to explore deeper meanings which the examiner may have not heard and also grading exam answers. I want to make this as affordable as I can as I myself was once in this position and any student is capable of drastically changing their grade. I am very passionate about this subject and want other people to see the joy in it too. We can also cover love and relations poetry or war/conflict.

Sociology is another subject I’m extremely passionate about and genuinely enjoy, I intend on going through exam papers and making mind maps and analysis on key sociologist and theories. I studied family, research methods and crime at gcse and (currently) second year on sociology A level studying education, family and households and crime this year.

English is my native language, I read a lot of poetry and have taught some family members English in our own ESOL style type of class so I am willing to help anybody else who may be struggling

This can lead the sociologist to many different topics of study from reproduction of inequalities in relation to social categories (such as race, class or gender), to the shaping of intimate relationships by wider cultural contexts, or the generation of resistance and protest by economic trends and crises.

Your second and final year course units are usually assessed by a combination of coursework and examination. Other methods of assessment include:
essays and other mid-term evaluations, which allow fuller development of and feedback on your knowledge and understanding
dissertations, which promote the development of argument and fuller understanding of academic material and test the extent to which you can carry out work independently
presentations and group projects, which promote teamwork and develop your communication skills.
