Knowledge in jazz harmony is a very important tool when going into jazz improvisation and composition. When I really started to understand how things work and why they work, the way I started to use harmony really changed.
It is not easy to explain the way music works, however, I want to share the way I was taught jazz harmony myself, as I feel it has been an incredibly valuable tool for me, and will be for others.

Composition lessons are for anyone who wishes to compose music, for any instrument, emsemble and/or electronics music.

My teaching method combines various approaches and styles, supporting practice with theoretical knowledge, and most important developing creativity and helping the student in making their imagionary visions come real.

For each student a different palate of tools is offered, according to the student's musical wishes and ambitions.

I teach the basis of western-music composition - theory, harmony, counterpoint, score-reading, solfege, rhythm, analysis and more.
Further I suggest broad overview of world, jazz, pop, new/contemporary music, various styles in electronic music (popular and experimental), improvisatory compositions, graphic notation, text and game pieces, music for theater, film and dance and interdicsiplinary works which combine music with other art fields.

"Music is a social experience". That's the main thing that, regardless of wanting to be a professional musician or just play to have fun, music can offer to us: we can learn how to be among people, and get to know things about music itself, people and even ourselves! It's also a great way to get our own personality and have fun: it enhances our sensitivity and it's just a fun way to spend time!

Anyways, how rude, I'm Enrico, a world-touring guitar player, composer and band leader, and I'm really glad you're reading this presentation. I grew up in a small town in the South of Italy, Crispiano, where I started playing guitar as a game, because it was such a great way to spend my afternoons and get together with my friends, just like playing video games or soccer, and here I am now ... my passion became my life!

I like to teach that in my lessons: how fun it is to discover new things on your instrument and share them with all your friends ... starting with me. I'd love you to play with me during our lessons and learn things by doing them, starting with what you already like, playing your favorite songs together so you can go out and do the same with your friends!

I've been lucky enough to meet teachers and colleagues that had the same approach with me, starting from my classical guitar studies in Italy, through the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where I'm currently finishing my jazz guitar Bachelor, till the masters or jazz music in New York City, which I had the luck to study with, like Peter Bernstein, Barry Harris or Dave Kikoski.

This led me, despite my young age, to share the stage with great superstars on the international jazz scene such as Joe Magnarelli, Gadi Lehavi, Felix Rossy and many others and recording my first album, "Social Music" out with A.MA Records in July 2019!

Apart from teaching the most amazing latin rhythms, In my lessons I apply the stick control book, to achieve a good technique, and at the same time I teach coordination and grooves, with the best methods and books from the most qualified drummers.

I'm a professional drummer from Spain, but living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have studied Latin drums at Codarts, university of the arts, in Rotterdam, so I've acquired a lot of knowledge and skills on Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, funk and Pop.

My name is João, I'm from Portugal, I'm 24 years of age, and I'm doing my bachelor's in jazz at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. I've been playing piano all my life, and can't wait to share what I've learned with you!

I teach piano to all ages from beginner to intermediate. Although I have a program, I will let you create your own path, taking into account the several landmarks I create according to your level and needs. Teaching is all about the individuality of each person I work with, and as a student myself, I find it to be one of the most important points in teaching.

I focus mainly on jazz music, but since music theory and harmony respect all kinds of music, I am open to every suggestion you bring into the class. The lessons will focus on learning music through listening, as well as introducing the student to music theory, and reading scores. Whether you like Pop, Jazz, Bossa Nova, or Classical, all music comes from the same place, so let's dive in!

I am an improviser and pianist from Hungary, I finished my Bachelor's degree in Jazz-piano recently and I'm currently doing my Master’s degree in jazz-composition at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. I have a classical background of playing classical piano for 9 years and I have studied jazz for 8 years. I mainly play improvised music and my own compositions.
I offer individual lessons and coaching. Online lessons are only possible for theory lessons.
I aim to have students challenged, and motivated, but not overwhelmed. I take extra care to find out the student's own learning tempo and adjust the material to it.

Hi! I am Elsa, I am 24 and I come from France. I am currently doing a jazz master at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, after obtaining my classical bachelor at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
I have been playing cello for 19 years. Over the years I played in various settings: chamber music (small ensembles like trios, quartet), bands (new music), solo and orchestras such as the Nationaal Jeugdorkest and Jong Metropole (national youth jazz orchestra).
I love to play classical music but also some jazz, funk or pop! I like to play with people, create music together, improvise... And I hope this is something I can also pass on to my students!
Since 6 years I am teaching all kind of people: all ages, all level, in different languages, individual or in groups... So don't be afraid to have a try! I can teach in english and french, and if your level is not fluent we will always find a way to communicate!

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Elsa, je suis française, j'ai 24 ans et je suis actuellement en master de jazz au Conservatorium van Amsterdam après avoir obtenu un bachelor classique au Conservatoire Royal de La Haye.
Ca fait 19 ans que je joue du violoncelle. Au fil des années j'ai joué dans beaucoup de contextes différents: musique de chambre, groupes, solo et orchestre (notament NJO et Jong Metropole).

Saxophone lessons in the centre of Den Haag.

Miguel is a very fun and experienced teacher that has been playing for 26 years and teaching saxophone for more than 10 years.

In couple of lessons you can already play melodies with your saxophone for your family and friends.
Many of his students went from cero to be part of bands and play concerts around the city.

We start with the basics of the saxophone, and we learn to play your favourite songs, read music, improvise and play in bands. From zero to saxophone hero Miguel can guide you through the whole process keeping it fun all the way.

Miguel has a master degree from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, a Bachelors degree from the Conservatory of Lisbon (ESMAE) and has studied Jazz and Classical music. He performs regularly with famous artists around the Netherlands and other countries. He always keeps time for his students to pass his passion to the music enthusiasts.

Hello!

I am an undergraduate student of Den Haag's Royal Conservatoire jazz department. I'm giving jazz piano/ classical piano/ music theory/ear training lessons for students of every level. Together, we can learn how to think of harmony/ chords, how to improvise over tunes, and how we can apply music theory on the keyboard. Also, we can work on piano technique through exercises, etudes and classical piano repertoire. I'm really passionate about music, and my main goal is to pass my love to other people. Students have different aspirations and needs, but in my lessons we can focus on rhythmic variation, tempo, comping, improvisation, ear training, chords, phrasing, articulation, expression - all while learning repertoire. That is how it all comes together, therefore I encourage my students to learn their favourite songs and also repertoire that will strengthen less strong areas of their playing. This means if you want to learn how to play pocket we focus on funk rhythms, if you want to learn how to play straight groove we focus on bossa or latin etc.

With a Bachelor in Jazz Guitar in the pocket - that’s what I mostly play, we can dig into chord melody, single line playing, repertoire and comping in a variety of styles within the jazz idiom.

The first lesson will be a checkup where you are as a student in your musical development, thereafter I will ask about your goals and aspirations and what you’re currently doing to reach them. My role is to oversee this process and share what has helped me in my musical development. I believe instrument lessons need to be practical and be based off concrete exercises that will help you reach the next level. For something to manifest into your playing you have to first get whatever you’re learning into your muscle memory - practice slowly with metronome, continuous repetition over a period of time, then the brain have a greater chance of obtaining the skill. Second step is to gradually increase the tempo and play with a good time feel, by doing this you will have what you’ve learnt in your hands. There are no shortcuts when learning a skill, you simply cannot buy it - you have to earn it!

Hi! I'm Demetrio, a musician and composer from Italy.

From when I was 8 years old, I've been fully immersed in music, starting out with flute, to then switch to drums and to my first conservatory course in classical percussion. Already in the final periods of this study, I began to fall in love with jazz music and with the instrument of the vibraphone, and in September 2022 I moved to the Netherlands to follow my second bachelor course in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, this time in jazz vibraphone. At the moment I'm in my second Master's year of The Hague's conservatory, on my way to graduation at the end of this academic year.

In this class, you'll be able to learn and face many aspects of music, from composing and starting out with the idea of song writing, to diving into music theory, both classical and jazz, and improvisation, as a general topic and in the context of jazz music. All of the topics that I present are offered to give students of any level either a solid base for music theory and improvisation, or to consolidate even more and strenghten your skills on more advanced aspects of music.

I'm very passionate about listening, sharing, directing and finding solutions to problems that anyone in a music learning journey can face, starting from myself. I'm also very patient and I provide clear and practical explanations, which I believe is very needed in such a confusing and aerial topic as music can be.
