Recorder, (baroque) oboe or music theory lessons. I started with recorder when I was 6 years old and later with the oboe. I came to the Netherlands in 1999 to study baroque oboe and got my Master of Music degree in 2005. Since 1997 I have given private lessons (both for oboe and recorder) and am an oboe teacher with the Leer Orkest Amsterdam. I have a lot of experience with children and adult students. In addition to my activities as a teacher I am also very active as a performing musician The lessons are for all ages and levels, I can teach at my home or at your home in the The Hague region.

I propose saxophone lessons for all ages, all levels, and in all styles. I have been running private lessons for 25 years, as well as giving workshops and master classes in colleges and universities. During a lesson I encourage the student to work on: posture, breathing and the position of the mouth (embouchure), helping the projection of sound; the development of the tone; i teach the student how to phrase and play a beautiful melody; techniques of improvisation; understanding harmony; having confidence in his/her playing skills; techniques of listening and interacting with the rhythm section; learning new songs and experiencing different styles of music; Introductions to key saxophonists. In my classes, you can learn how to play the Chinese bamboo flute (dizi) or xiao. If you’re interested in orchestral conducting or music theory, I also offer related courses. Bamboo Flute Course: You will learn how to play the Chinese bamboo flute and continuously improve your performance skills throughout the course. You can choose to learn the bamboo flute or xiao and play classical pieces or your favorite songs. Orchestral Conducting: If you need to prepare for related exams or are interested in orchestral conducting, I can help you prepare the necessary repertoire through score reading, analysis, and conducting techniques during the course. Music Theory: Music theory courses are available for children, providing a solid theoretical foundation to enhance their musical learning and make progress much faster!

Most importantly though I try to convey my passion for this unique instrument and support my student on his personal journey of learning and growth. Thats why also offer lessons on the craft of reed making, from the basics of making your first reed to perfecting concert grade reeds. My piano lessons cover a wide range of musical styles from Classical music, through Jazz all the way to contemporary pop music, depending on the students interests. Depending on the needs of the student the teaching can include and focus on different technical aspects such as finger flexibility, music theory or improvisation.

The bamboo flute is a popular woodwind instrument that is wildly used in traditional Chinese music and Chinese plays. The clean and high-pitched sound from bamboo flute makes it one of the most representative instruments in Chinese culture. The flute was entitled “Bamboo flute” because most of them are made of bamboo. Despite of the fact that some of the flutes are made of other materials such as stones, woods...etc, the flutes are still known as bamboo flute due to the excellent and characterized sounding effects from bamboo. The typical bamboo flutes are shown in Figure 1. There are two basic types of bamboo flutes according to their pitch scale and general size. The first type is called “Bang-Di”. It is basically shorter in length and capable of producing higher pitches. The tone from this type of bamboo flute is brighter and sharper. The other type is called “Qu-Di”. It is longer in length and lower in pitch produced. Opposite to the first type, the tone of Qu-Di is more smooth. The bamboo flute is a transposing instrument, and the tonality of every flute is marked on the side of their bodies. Generally, the bamboo flutes can cover pitch scale up to two octaves plus one whole tone. In this class, you will learn about - Playing technique - Membrane pasting and adjustment - Basic music theory : Score reading (numbered musical notation/modern staff notation) - Traditional pieces playing or pieces preferred by students. The clarinet is a single-reed musical instrument in the woodwind family, with a nearly cylindrical bore and a flared bell. Clarinets comprise a family of instruments of differing sizes and pitches. The clarinet family is the largest woodwind family, ranging from the BB♭ contrabass to the E♭ soprano. The B♭ soprano clarinet is the most common type, and is the instrument usually indicated by the word "clarinet". German instrument maker Johann Christoph Denner is generally credited with inventing the clarinet sometime around the year 1700 by adding a register key to the chalumeau, an earlier single-reed instrument. Over time, additional keywork and airtight pads were added to improve the tone and playability. Today the clarinet is a standard fixture of the orchestra and concert band and is used in classical music, military bands, klezmer, jazz, and other styles.

I give with great pleasure and passion oboe lessons for budding musicians of all ages and all levels - from total beginner oboist to very advanced level - through progressive lessons, based on the instrumental technique of the oboe and the development of musical expression on the instrument. I am patient and attentive, and I consider that it is obviously essential to adapt to the objectives and personality of the student. My pedagogy is based on the exchange, the development of the listening of the feelings with the instrument, the methodology in the work which leads to the effectiveness, and naturally the pleasure which the practice of the oboe gets. I seek to transmit to the student the simple and effective technical and musical tools that will allow him to quickly be as autonomous as possible in his personal work outside of oboe lessons. I also play during the lesson, in order to guide the student as well as possible, and sometimes also to have him play in a duet and develop listening and collective practice. Teaching for ten consecutive years in conservatories, I have a very rich and solid experience of pedagogy. I can also give lessons on the making of oboe reeds: assembly, the different styles of scratching, the choice of reeds, tools, etc. This manual aspect, complementary to the practice of the oboe, also fascinates me a lot and I have acquired a great experience in this field during many years of practice.
