Welcome to my cozy singing studio in Wondelgem/Ghent.
I like to listen to who you are, what you like to sing, where your comfort zone is and what challenges you have.

Hello future students,

My name is Jana Olga (30 years old and graduated as a jazz singer from the Ghent Conservatory) and together we will look for a way to make you feel good as a singer.
All kinds of music, requests and questions are welcome with which we will look for what you can excel in.

Singing, individually or in group, learning to accompany yourself on piano, pop, jazz, rock, musical, loud or silent. It doesn't matter, you are welcome.

My introduction to music was when I was 11 years old when I studied at the music school in Gentbrugge as a classical pianist. I did this for 10 years until I realized I wanted more ;) From high school I decided to study music in the MUDA. There I first continued my studies as a classical pianist, after which I was introduced to singing as a musical singer for 2 years and finally graduated as a jazz pianist. I always wanted to become a jazz singer, so I started training at the conservatory of Maastricht. Because Ghent is my safe home after all, I returned here to obtain my master's degree at the conservatory of Ghent as a Jazz singer. Present: teacher of solfège, music history and singing at the DKO plus completing my teacher training in Leuven.

I've been teaching music for a decade now, and I'm still as in love with it as when I started. I love to see my students grow. Together we look for what inspires you, what supports you technically, and find your path in learning how to sing. We'll work on breathing, tone, style, and the mental game that comes with being a confident singer and regular practice. I focus on giving you a positive learning experience; I'm going to empower you by teaching you step by step, so you know what your process is and you can reproduce it yourself at home or at a gig. If you're interested, we can also work on songwriting and/or accompanying yourself on an instrument.

You decide the tempo at which we work, you decide what and what style you want to work on, you decide whether you take classes of 30 or 60 minutes and how regularly you take them. You'll get exercises, sheet music and backing tracks to practice at home. You're allowed to record the class so you can remember everything and hear your progress. If you want to, we can even make a professional recording of you singing. Everything is possible, and everything we do will be in dialogue with each other. No, we don't think that being able to sing is absolutely necessary for actors. Not every actor or actress has the ambition to appear in a musical and not every series or film features singing. Still, vocal coaching is a good idea... whether you want to learn to sing or not!

With your course fee you can participate in any of our courses whenever you want. This way you can not only learn to act, but also taste our courses in debate and presentation techniques (our TV course), communication, singing, improvisation, 'physical acting', lie detection, hypnosis, directing, or writing! Of course, the following applies: the more you follow 1 particular course, the faster you progress.

You often have to be on set for a long time and then it is important to use your voice properly, so that it does not get tired and you can speak as powerfully after hours of recording as before. I offer private singing lessons in Ghent with piano or guitar accompaniment. Knowledge of music theory isn't necessary; a desire to sing and work is all it takes! We'll focus on warming up, technique, and intention, but the joy of singing is always paramount. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself on guitar or piano while singing. Besides singing, we can also focus on songwriting, and I can guide you through the writing process and offer creative writing exercises.

For me, singing and writing music are the most rewarding things there is, and I'd love to help you discover your own voice. My drum lessons can go in all directions. From jazz to pop and rock and hip hop. Always starting from a good technical basis and live guidance. For all levels and age groups. Usually I build up the lessons from technical exercises. These serve as a warm-up and basic vocabulary for the student. The technical exercises start with simple single strokes but quickly build up to rolls, accents, double strokes and flams. The second part of a lesson covers the knowledge of different grooves. Both two-part and three-part grooves are part of the lesson package, but also quintuplets of grooves. In the last part of the lesson, the student has the freedom to bring his own music and analyze it during the lesson.
