About Me

My goal in teaching is to motivate and guide students on the path they wish to follow. I do this by listening to their needs and wishes, and showing them the important building blocks to get there. I have been giving private lessons for 8 years and derive great satisfaction every time I succeed.

I had a student who started from scratch a few years ago and wanted to play in a rock cover band. He worked hard every time and took my tips to heart. Last year, he played his first gigs with his own band.

Education

I obtained my Master of Arts degree from the conservatory in Ghent in 2021, specializing in Pop Drums. During this 5-year program, I was given the time and the tools to develop myself into an experienced drummer.

Enthusiastic and experienced drum teacher (26) with broad training in jazz (both contemporary and traditional), pop and rock music. I graduated from the KASK Conservatory, and also obtained a master's degree in music education. During my studies I followed masterclasses by Mark Guiliana (David Bowie), Dré Pallemaerts (Melanie De Biasio, Novastar), Joey Baron etc. I am also active with numerous bands in the live and studio circuit, which provides the necessary experience.

My drum lessons can go in all directions. From jazz to pop and rock and hip hop. Always starting from a good technical basis and live guidance. For all levels and age groups. Usually I build up the lessons from technical exercises. These serve as a warm-up and basic vocabulary for the student. The technical exercises start with simple single strokes but quickly build up to rolls, accents, double strokes and flams. The second part of a lesson covers the knowledge of different grooves. Both two-part and three-part grooves are part of the lesson package, but also quintuplets of grooves. In the last part of the lesson, the student has the freedom to bring his own music and analyze it during the lesson.

It speeds up your creation process enormously if you know the software well. Otherwise it can take a long time and you get discouraged faster. This is not a DAW but a visual programming language that is often used by artists because you do not have to learn to write code for it right away.
