FOR WHOM, FOR WHAT:

This course aims to provide a framework for the preparation of future students at EPFL.
Many students are preparing for the start of the new school year at EPFL, but many of them are lost and don't know where to start. Some drag gaps from gymnasium/college with them, which prevent them from starting to learn/relearn math and physics and prepare well for the start of the school year. In this course, I propose to supervise the student in his preparation.

This course is adapted to the level in mathematics (standard and advanced) and physics (standard) of all sections of EPFL*.

CONTENTS :
The course aims to adapt to the needs of the student. In particular, it is common to:
- resume gym/college classes
-identify and address remaining gym/college gaps
- Fly over new subjects (the goal being not to be surprised when introducing them to the university)
-Work on certain subjects in advance
-Develop a work strategy and get organized
-Share experience/give advice
-Present the exam modalities (within the limits of my knowledge)

Note that the courses are flexible.
For more information on course content, please contact me to discuss.

REMARKS :
-> This course aims to give a boost to future students at EPFL. It does not in any way guarantee the success of the student (obviously).
-> This course is often given in support of the book "Know how in mathematics"
-> The course is based on my experience (EPFL, mathematics section).

SIZE:
The course can be given face-to-face in the Lausanne region (preferably Renens / Ecublens) or Geneva (preferably center) depending on my travel availability (this is to be agreed by message with me directly, this option only appears by default in my schedules available below). Otherwise, the course is generally given by Zoom with screen sharing where I generally write by hand).
The notes during the course are sent to the student after the course is completed in PDF format.
For more availability, please contact me.

Hoping to be able to help you.

*except advanced physics (only for the physics section)
Extra information
Access (free) to the book "Know how in mathematics" (also available on drives), gymnasium / college lessons (if necessary and desired), motivation!

About Me
I am a sportsman, I love skiing (also ski instructor during the holidays), but also fitness in general (running, physical strengthening, etc ...), wrestling and cycling.
I also like drawing and building (mainly robots) and computing.

Without "counting", of course.... mathematics!
Education
I am a mathematics student at EPFL. I have a particular interest in theoretical probability and analysis in general.
I followed my college/Gymnasium in Geneva.
(as well as the Geneva Conservatory of Music for the piano)

The goal is simple: to help you understand by yourself and acquire an intuition of the desired mathematical concepts, as well as the resolution of the exercises.

The courses cover a number of subjects. The student chooses the desired branch (the choices are listed below (*).
Additional drills can be provided upon request.

(*)The topics covered in this course are:
-Analysis I, Advanced Analysis I [one-variable real analysis, integration, etc...]
-Analysis II, Advanced Analysis II [real multivariate analysis, integration, differential equations, etc...]
-Linear Algebra I [linear maps, matrices, determinants, diagonalization (AL2), etc...]
-Advanced Linear Algebra I [AL1, dual spaces, multilinear forms, groups, rings, fields, etc...]

As a dedicated tutor with over six years of experience, I specialize in teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to students of all levels, from primary school to university. My academic background is robust, holding honors degrees from both the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine. This diverse educational experience has equipped me with a strong foundation in scientific principles and the analytical skills necessary for effective teaching. My tutoring journey began while I was still at university, where I was consistently ranked among the top of my class. This early start ignited my passion for education and set the stage for a fulfilling career in tutoring.

My teaching approach is carefully tailored to meet each student’s individual needs. I recognize that every learner has a unique style and pace, and I strive to adapt my methods accordingly. Whether a student requires in-depth explanations of complex theories or concise summaries of key concepts, I ensure that my lessons cater to their specific requirements. This flexibility allows me to build a strong foundation in core concepts while guiding students through practical problem-solving techniques that are essential for mastering the subjects.

In my lessons, I focus not only on helping students grasp the subject matter but also on developing critical thinking and analytical skills. I recently graduated with a Master's degree in Mathematics from EPFL, where I also worked as a student assistant for 4 years, notably for the CMS (Special Mathematics Course), the MAN (Upgrade), as well as for several first-year Bachelor's courses. I also served as a corrector for multiple exam sessions and wrote a handout for a course for Master's students in Mathematics at EPFL. Through these experiences, I had the opportunity to support many students in successfully completing their first year, often considered one of the most demanding.

Today, I offer private math lessons for all levels, from compulsory school to the federal maturity, as well as for Bachelor students needing support in subjects with a strong mathematical component.

Passionate about teaching, what I appreciate above all is seeing students' progress, their confidence and their growing understanding. My methodology is based on an intuitive understanding of concepts, through simple and clear examples, as well as structured support in reasoning. I place particular emphasis on solving exercises, because it is through regular practice that we consolidate our knowledge and truly progress in mathematics.

Most lessons will start with a discussion before jumping into practice questions and worked examples in a calmer environment than the classroom.

We will discuss what area(s) of Mathematics the student is struggling with, I will then present diagnostic questions to identify the root cause of the confusion before working from basics to make sure the student understands what the gap in their knowledge is and how to best reinforce the gap in their learning.

For more confident students one of the best ways to prepare them for exams is working through exam-style questions and reviewing common areas where marks are lost along with best practices to minimise wasted time during the tests.
