I am a Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocal coach from Zimbabwe with over a decade of teaching and performance experience from leading a successful solo career and working as a music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz singing from Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU) Lausanne where I am currently studying a Masters in Jazz Pedagogy. I have also studied music in Dublin Ireland, where I acquired a Higher Certificate in Jazz and Contemporary Music from Newpark Music Centre's Berklee Track program whi h is facilitated by Berklee College of Music in Boston. I was the 2024 laureat of the Foundation Casino Barrier Award for talent and creativity and a 2018 winner of the Zimbabwean National Arts Council's National Arts Merit Award (NAMA). I am excited to find eager students at all levels who are keen to learn and challenge themselves in making and learning music. My classes are dynamic, engaging and well prepared.

I hold a BMus in classical Music (voice and piano) from Goldsmiths University, London, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music, for which I was awarded the Geraint Evans vocal scholarship to study with the world-renowned Opera singer Suzanne Murphy. I have been a professional opera singer for over 15 years, and have taught throughout London and the South East of England both privately and at specialist schools such as the Jasper Allen school for Performing Arts in London. I understand how daunting it can be to sing in front of someone - especially for the first time. Your voice is your own precious instrument. One that requires respect and care. My aim is to help you build self-confidence, find your voice, and express yourself through music. As your vocal teacher, I will help you to set goals that develop your unique instrument and bring out your own personality. We will work on building a solid technical foundation including breath control and voice placement (classical and pop)through all musical genres, from Madonna and Prince to Mozart and Sondheim. I graduated in Master's degree in Performance at the Academy of Arts in Slovakia and at the HEM in Master's degree in Specialized Interpreting in Geneva. During my studies I attended several master classes with famous artists like Mirella Freni, Patricia Petibon, Mara Zampieri, Luciana D'Intino and many others. My classes are suitable for all levels (from 14 years old) and are personalized according to the individual needs of each student. I give my shopping in French, English, Italian and Hungarian. The program consists of - Pose the voice: you learn the vocal technique with the use of deep breathing with the diaphragm and the toric breaking and to emit the full, round and vibrating sounds, without vacillation or trembling, with ease without forcing the volume of the voice. - Repertoire: the range of the lyric repertoire is very wide. You have to find the right personal piece for everyone at the base of their voice, preferences and musical taste. - Emotions: with music one can express a very wide range of emotions. To be able to express emotions that you want, you have to know and understand them. With the help of specific excercises we can learn how to memorize positive emotions and how to overcome negative emotions such as stalking. - Solfége: for beginners I also propose the course of the solfége base (the musical writing, the rhythm and the musical theory) on request, which can be part of the singing course. I am an Italian soprano, graduated from the Dutch National Opera Academy. I work as a soloist as a freelance singer, and I teach singing to students of different levels and ages for many years. The most important thing during my lessons is to help the student find a healthy and comfortable way of singing! During the first part of the lesson, we will focus on Technique and breathing, while during the second part of the lesson we will focus on the repertoire chosen together with the student, applying the aspect of the technique that we worked on previously in the lesson.

From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

In my classes I teach you how to use your voice correctly when singing, improving your breathing, voice, diction, with your favorite song repertoire. Hello! I am Meric jazz singer - musician - vocal coach and public speaking trainer. If you want to train your ear and sing those fancy notes, there is always an easy way to do that. But of course practice is vital. This class requires basic musical skills. So be sure that you are able to repeat (sing) that you hear.

My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!
