English with an English speaker, for children and adults

From 84 C$ /h

Hello!

English, English is my mother tongue for which I have a real passion.

Currently intern in Geneva, I lived several years in France where I had many students: children, students, active people and even a pensioner. I adapt to your needs:

- I give conversation classes, around a theme we choose together;
- I give lessons in writing, grammar and reading - especially for children, for whom I can adapt to the school path and the preparation of events (for adults, I am familiar with the TOEFL test and can guide you in your training);
- I give targeted courses on a particular professional need (for example, I taught a surgeon who wanted to learn the vocabulary of his profession in English). Graduated in Economics, I know how to teach everything that is vocabulary of business, finance, etc.

I am available every night of the week from 17h, Geneva and its surroundings.

I teach students, as well as adults who want to improve their English for professional reasons.
My experience over the past 10 years has allowed me to develop a simple and effective method that adapts to the needs of the student, taking into account their interests. This way, the student becomes seriously involved and progresses quickly.
My native ear allows me to have a real impact on the pronunciation and accent of the student, without ever neglecting the importance of learning to write. In addition, my experience as a translator allows me to teach the different nuances of the language in the most efficient way possible.

I am a Belgian (Flemish) and French student with a Masters in International Public Law (Amsterdam) and a Masters in Global development (University of Copenhagen). World traveler, I have lived in Thailand, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, US, Switzerland and many more countries, where I both dtudies and worked as a legal advisor.

I have been tutoring since 2017, both in person, in schools and online, since 2017, I have been working with around 250 students, located everywhere in the world! Here is an overview of my previous tutoring experience:

2022-Now:
Online tutoring on Apprentus, (approx 12h/week).

2023:
Tutor of Dutch at Varady Language school in Geneva

2021-2022:
I worked at "bijlesthuis," a Dutch tutoring institution, where I primarily taught French, Dutch, and English to adult learners seeking to improve their language skills. During the same period, I also provided classes to other students through Apprentus.

2021:
Through Apprentus and other websites, I assisted several younger students (ages 5-15) in Bern and Geneva, helping them improve their skills in subjects such as Maths and French.

2017-2020:
I worked for three years at a tutoring institution in Geneva called ARA, where I primarily taught French, Mathematics, and English.

During this time, I also spent two years working at a private school called Florimont, where I supported students aged 11-16 across various subjects by assisting them with their homework.

I can teach French, Dutch, and English, Spanish and in German, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and assisting students in their progress and acquisition of new skills.

As a person, I am flexible, calm, and positive.

I am excited to meet you and look forward to working with you!

Hello!

I have been teaching English for 9 years now.

I help students with grammar, conjugation, and written comprehension, to improve their speaking skills and to give them more confidence in the language.

I help in the following areas:

- Adults wishing to discover the English language
- Students in the orientation cycle
- Middle school students (1st and 2nd year)
- Students in post-CFC commercial vocational baccalaureate
- Students at the business school
- Children in primary school and wanting to prepare for the orientation cycle

__________________________

I offer classes at my home, at the student's home, and via Zoom. I have a vehicle for easy transportation.
* I also offer back-to-school preparation courses, refresher courses and courses for beginners during the summer of 2025 during the following weeks:

- The week of June 23 to 29
- The week of June 30 to July 6
- The week of July 7 to 13
- The week of July 21 to 27
- The week of August 4 to 10
- The week of August 11 to 17
- The week of August 18 to 24
- The week of August 25 to 31

Do you want to improve your English, regain confidence, prepare for an exam or simply feel more comfortable speaking? I offer English lessons tailored to your level, your goals and your learning style.

I lived in the United Kingdom for 6 years, where I pursued my studies until obtaining a Master's degree in Glasgow in 2018. After several years of training and work in Glasgow and then London, I returned to Geneva in 2020. I continue to use English daily, both in my professional and personal life.

My priority is adapting to the individual I'm working with. I'm patient, a good listener, and a skilled teacher, and I strive to make learning concrete, accessible, and motivating. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I take the time to understand each student's needs and challenges in order to create a personalized learning plan.

I also know from experience that academic difficulties are not inevitable. During my own schooling in middle school and high school in Geneva, I encountered difficulties and worked with several tutors. This experience allowed me to "learn how to learn," to gain confidence, and to progress until I obtained my high school diploma with honors.

It is this experience that I like to pass on today: giving tools, restoring confidence and finding with each student the way that will allow them to progress.

Whether you are a beginner, wish to consolidate your basics, improve your oral and written expression or prepare for an academic or professional goal, we will define together a method adapted to your needs.

Dear students in search of success,
My name is Lara, and I have a lifelong passion for learning and teaching. If you are looking for a dedicated, competent tutor ready to guide you towards success, you are in the right place!
With 3 years of experience as a tutor, I have had the privilege of helping many students overcome their academic challenges and excel in their studies. My main goal is to provide you with individualized support that meets your unique needs.
What sets me apart is my ability to make learning fun, interactive and effective. I take a personalized approach to each student, adapting to your learning style and creating an encouraging environment where you will feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas.
I will help you develop strong skills, build your self-confidence and achieve your goals. Whether it's preparing for exams, improving skills in math, science, languages or other areas, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
So, if you are ready to invest in your future, work hard and achieve your goals, I am here to guide you. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs and schedule our first tutoring sessions.

I have been using English since my teenage years through my many travels, a level I perfected during an extended stay in Canada. In 2018, I consolidated my teaching skills by obtaining the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate.

Having gone through the entire process of learning this language myself, I fully understand the challenges and stages you're facing. This firsthand experience greatly helps me to better support you.

- Professionals (business English, interview preparation).

Feel free to contact me for more information.

Looking forward to accompanying you :)

I have been an English teacher for three years, with experience teaching children and adults, both privately and in language schools. I have completed specialized training in teaching beginners, which allows me to tailor my lessons to each student.

I am patient and attentive, and I create a pleasant and motivating learning environment. My goal is for each student to progress with confidence, speaking and understanding English clearly and practically.

My courses are designed for beginners and intermediate levels (A1-B1), for both children and adults. I emphasize a practical and communicative approach, with exercises and activities based on real-life situations. Each session is structured yet flexible, adapted to your pace and goals, so you can use English in everyday life right from the start.

I also emphasize living English, with different accents, common expressions and a bit of slang, so that you understand and speak real and natural English, and discover British and American culture.

Hello,
I offer business English lessons for those who are interested. First, I consider my clients' needs. I follow a formal curriculum: the lessons are based on listening comprehension, reading, and conversation. The lessons are enhanced with visuals, videos, presentations, texts, reports, and more.

Hi! I’m a native English speaker and CELTA-qualified teacher, and I love helping people feel more comfortable and confident speaking English.

Before moving back to Geneva, I worked with NGOs in Greece supporting refugees and asylum seekers. As part of my work, I taught English to people from many different backgrounds and levels, as well as managing community programmes and volunteers. I really enjoyed the teaching side of my work — especially getting to know people individually and seeing their confidence grow.

That's why I prefer one-to-one lessons. I want our lessons to feel less like a traditional classroom and more like a relaxed conversation where you can practise, ask questions and learn at your own pace.

We can focus on whatever is most useful for you. Maybe you understand English quite well but find it difficult to speak. Maybe you need English for work, want to prepare for an interview, or simply want to feel more confident having conversations with English speakers. Or perhaps you just want someone to practise with regularly.

I'm friendly, patient and happy to adapt the lessons to you. Making mistakes is completely fine — that's how you learn! If you have a particular goal in mind, feel free to get in touch and tell me a little about what you'd like to improve.

Why does learning a foreign language seem so difficult?

Often, it's not a question of talent, but of method. With concrete support tailored to your goals, speaking with ease and confidence becomes possible, and faster than you think.

My name is Rubén and I have two years of experience in private tutoring, during which I helped each student achieve specific goals. I have taught English to a child and helped a German student pass his Spanish exams, in addition to numerous other tutoring activities in Spain.

I have studied and worked in all the languages I speak and teach: Spanish, my native language, English at C1 level, German at B2 level and French at B2 level. I therefore know from the inside the difficulties one encounters when learning a language, and the tips for overcoming them.

I was able to put my method to the test both in exams and in the professional world, combining daily oral practice with preparation for official certifications.

I am a Cambridge CELTA-certified American English instructor with 15 years of experience teaching adults and teenagers in Japan, the USA, and Geneva, Switzerland.
I offer personalized ESL courses for adults and adolescents by web-cam and in-person.
Course content is tailored to the individual needs, goals and interests of the client, and all classes are well-structured, speaking-intensive and focused on purposeful communication. We learn to speak English by speaking it, so there will be no recitations of verb tables and reading of pre-written dialogues.
Classes target oral expression, listening comprehension, grammatical accuracy and conversational fluency.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me through apprentices!!
