Closely connected to the social life of the time, its songs speak of love, poverty, migration, marginalization, prison, drugs and the everyday realities of urban life. It has a distinctive musical and vocal language, with characteristic rhythms, phrasing and ornamentation.

About Me
I am a professional singer, vocal teacher and choir director based on the Greek island of Syros, with over 20 years of experience in music teaching and performance. I specialize in Rebetiko and Greek traditional singing.
My teaching is practical and repertoire-based, combining vocal technique with listening, repetition, phrasing, rhythm, ornamentation and interpretation. I work with adults of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced and professional singers.
I teach in both Greek and English. International students are very welcome, and no knowledge of Greek is required.
