About Me

From the cradle I grew up with piano music. Piano and music is and will remain my passion.
I graduated from the music academy and at the time participated in the national music competition Pro Civitate, where I obtained the 2 ° prize. I have a classical education, but I am also familiar with other music genres. Are you also a fan of Einaudi, Hans Zimmer, Yann Tiersen, Jef Neve ...? In the past I have provided accompaniment for several musicals, together with some musicians from the opera in Antwerp. I now have a lot of experience as a piano teacher for young and old.

Education

I completed my piano education at the Jozef Van Poppel music academy in Deurne with the highest honor and government medal. I also have diplomas in solfège and music history. After graduating, I continued to take private lessons for a number of years with my trusted piano teacher.

Experience / Qualifications

I attach great importance to the posture at the piano and the technique of playing the piano. In addition, I try to teach insight about music very quickly, even to the little ones. This has led to rapid progress for a number of students. The lessons are personalized and with a good dose of fun.

PRIVATE PIANOLES

Would you like to learn to play the piano, prefer one-on-one private lessons to attending a music school, or prepare yourself for the new school year at the academy? Do you want to pick up your lessons again after taking a break, improve your technique, or simply see if the piano is right for you? Would you like to try out other music genres, learn to accompany yourself, improvise, compose, play your favorite classical piece or radio song, learn more about basic harmony...?

Then you are very welcome in my living room!

Knowledge of music theory is allowed, but certainly not required.

Genre:
Classical, pop, film music, basic jazz, songwriting, accompaniment, chord theory, children's songs...
I usually teach a combination of classical piano (reading sheet music) and improvisation, chord theory, composing..., but anything is possible. Occasionally, other instruments are even introduced, such as percussion for learning rhythm.

Experience:
I graduated from Studio Herman Teirlinck (Cabaret specialization) and subsequently studied piano at the Antwerp Jazz Studio. In addition, I took masterclasses with Jef Neve, Kenny Werner, Amina Figarova, among others. Besides private lessons (to both children and adults), I taught piano for several years at the youth music school of the Halewijn Foundation (Berchem).

When:
By appointment

Where:
At 2020 Antwerp (Kiel), near the Kiel Library, the Singel, Exhibition District...

Feel free to email me for more info!
I look forward to receiving you here!

musical regards,

Martine

Lessons are individually and carefully adapted to the student’s age, level, and desired outcome.
From the youngest students, to whom the music and playing the basics are served playfully based on making the music an important part of their development to advanced students with whom we can refine all the musical details and prepare for professional careers.

The piano lessons would always include a little bit of theory that comes with the piano pieces we would do in the lessons. I can also give an extra theory lesson if needed.

The content of the lessons is adapted to the needs and wishes of each student.
It is possible to follow a combination of music theory and instrument, or only focus on one aspect.

Depending on the student's goal, the level, teaching method and music styles are adjusted and personalized in consultation.
Together we will look at what your learning needs are and which method suits you best.

As a teacher I am familiar with different styles, from classical music (baroque, impressionism, classicism, romanticism and contemporary music), to folk music, jazz standards, pop songs or minimalist music.
There is also the option to work from improvisations.

The lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, the personal profile of the student is central.
