My individual German training is designed for international doctors who want to develop or improve both their medical German and their general language skills.
Preparing for a medical language exam may be an important goal – but it does not have to be the end of your language training. Many doctors continue their lessons afterwards to further improve their German and communicate confidently, precisely and appropriately with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 25 years and support international doctors at different stages of their careers – from developing the language skills they need to work in Germany to achieving an advanced level of German at C1 or C2.
Medical German and communication in everyday clinical practice

Doctors face a wide range of communication challenges. When speaking to patients, complex medical information needs to be explained in clear, accessible language. Communication with medical colleagues, on the other hand, requires precise terminology and a professional style. In addition, doctors need to communicate effectively during ward rounds, handovers, case discussions and conversations with relatives, as well as in written documentation.
Depending on your current level, medical specialty and professional goals, we can work on areas such as:

We work with realistic situations from everyday medical practice. You are also welcome to bring specific communication challenges from your own work into your lessons.
Preparation for the medical language exam

If you are preparing for a medical language exam in Germany, we focus specifically on the language requirements and typical communication tasks you will encounter in the exam.
This includes, in particular, the doctor-patient consultation, written medical documentation and the doctor-to-doctor discussion or structured presentation of a patient case.
We simulate typical exam situations and work specifically on medical vocabulary, useful expressions, linguistic accuracy, clarity and your ability to respond spontaneously.
Passing the medical language exam, however, does not automatically mean that you will feel completely confident communicating in everyday clinical practice. You can therefore continue your training after the exam and systematically develop both your professional and general German skills.
General and professional German up to C2
--------------------------------------------------------------------
For doctors who are already working in Germany, medical terminology alone is often not enough.
In your everyday professional life, you need to respond spontaneously, express and support your opinions, explain complex issues and take part in conversations that have nothing to do with medicine. The greater your professional responsibility, the more important precise and appropriate communication becomes.
For this reason, we can work on your general German alongside your medical German or continue developing it systematically towards C1 or C2 after your exam.

Individual training backed by over 25 years of teaching experience

At the beginning of your course, I assess your current German skills and discuss your personal and professional goals with you. Based on this, we define the priorities for your individual training.
To ensure systematic progress, I work with up-to-date materials for German as a foreign language and medical German, supplemented by my own exercises and realistic communication scenarios.
You receive targeted corrections and detailed feedback on how you express yourself. If you would like to continue working between lessons, I can also provide additional exercises and homework. Corrections are included.
Lessons usually take place online. Alternatively, one-to-one lessons are available at my office in Munich.
Each lesson lasts 60 minutes. For consistent progress, I recommend one or two lessons per week.
