Hi! My name is Vivian and all students are welcome! I focus on musical and technical development, can also accompany my students on the piano, practice playing together and teach the students who are ready for it some music theory. Recitals are organized to work towards something, learn to perform and listen to each other. If the student is ready for it, I will guide in finding orchestras and ensemble opportunities. Students can also get in touch with each other to get a click and start playing together.

With my educational skills I have also given violin workshops to primary and secondary schools through Het Residentieorkest and I have worked as a substitute teacher at the learning orchestra The Residents several times. At the conservatory I have followed education lessons and the Kodály course Music as a Profession.

Beginners usually start with a half hour lesson and if the teacher or the student notices that this is too short for the current development, the lesson time is increased to 45 minutes or 60 minutes in consultation. The student must provide a violin himself. A violin can be rented or purchased and I can give advice and help with this. Furthermore, the student must purchase a music stand, a lesson book and new strings every few months.

Send me a message if you are interested, have questions, want to meet or would like to try a trial lesson. I think it would be great to get started on the violin together, discover beautiful music and have fun with it!

(Tip: be quick because my teaching practice is often full)
Extra information
You provide your own violin, but I can help you with this.

My lessons can be shared between violin and theory together depending on what you are looking for.

The lessons will be at my house if you are in need of an instrument we can find one for you!

I started taking violin lessons at the age of 7. After years of training, I am currently continuing my violin studies at Utrecht Conservatory. I have also attended music theory classes for 6 years because it is very useful to have some knowledge of it when playing any instrument. If you would like, I would be more than happy to share some knowledge of music theory along with the violin lessons. Lessons are private and not in groups.

I am Carlos (08/02/1992), professional violinist and violin and viola teacher.

I started playing the violin when I was 15 years old. This means I can still clearly remember the methods and techniques I used to learn how to play the violin. I will certainly take these experiences with me into my teaching position. These insights allow me to teach each student according to his/her desires and needs.

My passion for teaching started when my father and nephew wanted to learn to play the violin. Since then I have continued to teach many students because I get energy and inspiration from my students. In recent years I have taught many different students and because of this I have gained a lot of experience in using different methodologies.

Teaching is a big responsibility. My priority is to let the student have fun while learning and to stimulate musicality/creativity. Every student is different and has different interests, therefore every student will be taught in a different way and with a different method. The styles I teach can vary from classical to jazz, pop, etc.

I have taught students of different levels both in Spain and in the Netherlands: beginners, amateurs, advanced. So I teach students who are preparing for the conservatory, but also the very first beginners.

Because I am from Spain, I can teach in Spanish, English and Dutch.

Let's explore together the music of the baroque era! Get to know the violin and the viola in their baroque setting- experiment with features such as gut strings and historical bows. The lessons are adapted to your wishes and needs: a beginner will have different goals than an experienced player. There is wealth of material for all levels and interests, let's find out together what's the best for you!
The core of the lesson is always the expression of music! We will work through building technique, grasping theoretical knowledge, and learning about the historical context. And if all that sounds a bit serious, let's not forget that the best way to learning is playfulness and a will to experiment!

Let’s begin your musical journey! Perhaps this is the first time you are playing an instrument? Or you are picking it up having played it years ago. Perhaps you have a dream of where or what you would like to play...or want to improve specific skills to simply enjoy playing more.

My aim is to create a path with you (or your child), to discover and develop ways to achieve your own musical goals.

I offer 30-minute instrumental lessons – these are aimed at beginner students to build stamina, posture and basic playing techniques.
You can combine this with an additional 30 minutes of musicianship, this is for children to build a solid foundation of musical skills –including rhythm, note reading and pitch, composition, tempo and more. Group lessons are possible for beginner players, these can be a fun and motivating way of learning together for students, however these would be regularly reviewed to ensure learning needs of each student are met.

I would recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate student/adult students – this is to work on more complex musical skills, exercises and pieces.

Goals for lessons:
Making music from day 1
Exploring and refining the craft of playing the instrument
Setting reachable goals to build stamina, technique and musicianship
Developing ‘inner ear’ with aural exercises
Learning musical notation/composition
Casual performance opportunities solo or in a group (if desired)
Most importantly...having fun!

About me...
I have worked in instrument music education at schools, academies and privately for the last 12 years, whilst playing professionally as a freelance violin/viola player and conductor with orchestras, musicals and in community music settings in England. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and base my approach on the needs of the student, using experience in different schools of music teaching - including traditional classical Suzuki and Kodaly principles to more modern day improvisation focussed educators such as Christian Howes and Bobby McFerrin.

Lessons available in English and Dutch.

Do get in touch if you have any questions!

I am a professional violinist and teacher with experience in one-to-one lessons. I was taught the technique of the Galamian school and have travelled to Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands over the last few years.
Based on your necessities and the music you want to learn, I will make the lessons as interesting and fun as possible with a technical classical base.
I will place a lot of importance on stretching and warming up during the lesson to avoid future injuries, and I will try to incorporate that into the student routine.
