Trusted teacher: Hi, I’m Jana - yoga and movement therapist and mindfulness facilitator from Estonia. I’ve been practising yoga and meditation for more than 8 years, coming from hatha yoga background and enriching it with therapy methods, secular mindfulness practices and my academic background in mental health, nutrition and public health. My approach is a combination of traditions and modern science, which allowed me to create a unique mix of efficient, safe and sustainable practices. I’m a certified yoga therapist and adaptive physical activity instructor so I’m able to tailor a practice to any needs. I’ve worked with a wide range of health problems starting from spinal disc herniations to different injuries. As a mindfulness facilitator, I’m working with stress management, including emotional reactivity, anxiety, panic attacks and many others. It is also possible to adapt the practice to individual inquiries such as improving concentration and memory, working on creativity or improving relationships or confidence. I’ve done various of yoga-, mindfulness- and health-related courses and certifications, assisted in yoga and mindfulness study in Victoria University in Australia and currently involved in writing a research paper on mediation and yoga in collaboration with academics from different fields. I teach hatha yoga, vinyasa, yin or restorative yoga. Although, usually my classes are the mix of different styles and approaches, including yoga and embodiment methods, mindfulness and meditation, counselling and other non-yoga techniques. I usually teach 1- or 1,5-hour classes, individually or in groups, I can teach both online or face-to-face (outdoor or at your place). We can choose one focus (either yoga or mediation) or have a mix of everything. I also offer nutrition and health counselling if you want to lose, gain or maintain weight, improve your eating habits or become more physically active. Trusted teacher: Graduating with a First in English Literature in 2017 from Trinity College, Cambridge, I have tutored 250+ hours in the past two years, at all levels from 7+ to A-Level, and in exam boards from AQA to the UKISET for international students. I have taught both English and international students, and so am familiar with the varieties of difficulty that students can encounter and a variety of approaches for addressing them. I enjoy re-examining the elementals of the subject through tutoring. My students have all registered often substantial improvements and I continue to be asked back by different families if they feel they need a boost. I'm happy to provide references from students and parents. I have taught a variety of age ranges for school admissions from 7 to 13+. I have worked with students aiming for schools including Godolphin and Latymer, Harrodian, Kings Canterbury and Wycombe Abbey. The problems students have had have varied each time, from simple confidence and time-keeping issues, to more difficult ones like English being a second language or dyslexia. However every pupil I’ve taught so far has markedly improved and gained admission to at least one of the schools of their choice. I think my main strength as a tutor is an ability to explain concepts dealing with question structure and exam technique, and help the student to gently internalise them and gain their own confidence. I aim to strike a balance between engaging, personal commitment to making the student see and realise an organic interest in reading and writing, alongside the necessity of navigating exam requirements - but without making them seem restrictive or daunting. I really enjoy trying to individualise lessons for the student's specific needs and so will also try to stoke a personal interest and response to material studied, as I believe this makes for a much more enjoyable and painless process of learning. I am always keen to recommend or discuss specific books or authors of possible help or interest to students or parents. I aim to strike a balance between engaging, personal commitment to making the student see and realise an interest in reading and writing, alongside the necessity of navigating exam strictures and requirements - without making them seem restrictive or off-putting. I can also help with general essay-structuring/researching/writing skills in subjects not related to English. I can also help with Drama and Theatre-related studies.
