I believe that it is important that each session is tailored to the individual. Sessions will begin with a brief introduction to the topic and a task which will allow me to gauge the current working level and to establish strengths and weaknesses in the area. My experience as a tutor allows me to make quick, informed decisions about how to adapt the session in order to achieve maximum progress. I always make sure that I have read and understood the relevant exam board specification to ensure that I deliver the information and skills required for exam success.

I strongly feel that engagement, encouragement and enjoyment are essential for acquiring, understanding and retaining new skills and knowledge. Therefore, my sessions will be interactive and include progressive tasks allowing application and practice. I try to make my tutees comfortable in my sessions through reassurance and communication, with us both asking questions throughout the session - I am ready to explain things in different ways until it is understood!

About Me
I am an experienced tutor, both online and in-person, including previously being employed by a school as an after-school GCSE Tutor. I am currently a student at the University of Cambridge studying on the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine. Throughout my education and employment, I have gained a number of skills that I believe are required to be a successful tutor. Importantly, I feel that I have the necessary knowledge to tutor mathematics, chemistry and biology up to GCSE level.

The sciences and maths have always been my favourite subjects and were also the ones that I received the highest marks for at GCSE and A-Level. My Natural Sciences degree allowed me to continue studying parts of Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics I enjoy most to degree level, graduating in 2019 with first class honours. This provides me with a strong interdisciplinary understanding of these subjects which I have found to be useful to provide context, particularly for mathematical problems, which in turn helps with understanding the topic.

I have 4 years of experience tutoring Biology, Chemistry and Science up to A-levels. This lessons are for after-school support. My tutoring lessons involve helping out with assignments, revising content given in class as well as extra content if required by the student, and exam preparation. I really enjoyed teaching these subjects as it is what I pursued further at University. I like to make my lessons as engaging as possible to motivate students to do their best.

I base my classes on completing exam-style questions from past papers or approved books together with the student and teaching them how to think mathematically and be able to tackle similar problems.
My objective is to ensure the student is able to think independently and provided detailed feedback on their work.

I would like to help with middle school and high school level (GCSE, A-levels and IB) mathematics and physics tutorials. I am happy to provide full lectures with solved examples, help with homework, give feedback and answer student's questions on the school syllabus or even beyond the syllabus, when I can be of assistance. Before beginning regular sessions with students I would like to have a casual meeting with them in which I could familiarise myself with their situation and their needs and we would get to know each other. I'm resident in Edinburgh and can occasionally provide in-person tutorials in the Edinburgh area. Whenever in-person sessions are not possible, we can also work online.

Hello,

I am a PhD candidate in Biostatistics PhD at Cambridge. My first integrated Master's degree in Mathematics was carried out at Imperial College London, having received my diploma in 2021. I offer support and in-depth courses in maths for high school and college students, from the French and English system (up to Bac or up to GCSE).

Having passed a Bac S Spé maths mention very well in 2017, and having followed students of the new Bac for the past two years, I am very comfortable with the recent programs of high school subjects. In addition, I have had experience in private lessons for 3 years, having followed in particular students from CE2, CM1, and from 4th to final, but also experience in childcare and teenagers. The students have all made progress after my follow-up.

My teaching method consists of doing my best to make my students appreciate and understand the subject concerned, by going back to the teachers' lessons but with a calmer approach, based on standard exercises or annals for future graduates, to facilitate the assimilation of the course.

My classes can vary from regular homework help to exam preparation. We will focus on the exercises and the annals; the study of math is like that of an instrument, you have to practice a lot and regularly.

If interested, do not hesitate to contact me by private message. I am available during most of the summer holidays and on a regular basis from the start of the school year.

Yours,
Juliette

You will be able to learn ahead, revise known topics and complete exam practice in these lessons for any topics in maths. Great for building a more solid foundation than that your school classes could give you. The default lesson structure - unless specified otherwise - will be mostly guided exam-style question practice and detailed explanation on ones where understanding is weak.

Third-year Mathematics student at University of Cambridge. I have been tutoring Maths for more than 3 years now at a variety of levels and have always received exceptional feedback.

The way I structure my sessions is to start with a recap of the previous session and spend some time resolving any problems the student has faced when tackling questions between sessions. I then like to spend the remainder of the class tackling a mixture of problems from past papers. This keeps the sessions varied and also helps the student to develop good exam technique which can often make all the difference.

For students applying to study Maths at university, I can also assist with mock interviews and personal statement advice.
