course price icon
From 69.77 C$ /h

This class offers personalized instruction in philosophical and/or sociological theory, suited both for students seeking academic support and for individuals with a general interest in a philosophical topic.
Sessions are designed according to the student’s goals, whether it’s clarifying course material, preparing written assignments, or exploring theoretical texts independently.

I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Philosophy. My areas of specialization include ancient philosophy, early modern philosophy, and phenomenology. I also hold a background in sociology, which allows me to offer interdisciplinary approaches to social theory and critical thought.

Sessions can be focused on specific authors or movements (e.g. Plato, Spinoza, feminist theory), or organized thematically around concepts such as love, beauty, perception, or subjectivity. The goal is to foster rigorous but accessible understanding, with attention to both conceptual clarity and historical context.

About Me
I’m a passionate and committed teacher currently completing a Master of Arts in Philosophy at KU Leuven. I hold a double degree in Philosophy and Sociology, and I’ve taught university-level classes in sociology in Chile, where I also worked as a teaching assistant in nearly all of my philosophy courses. Teaching has always been one of the parts I love most about academic life.

My areas of specialization include ancient philosophy, early modern philosophy, and phenomenology, but I also enjoy bridging philosophy with social and political theory. I offer tailored lessons for both academic support (high school and university) and for those simply interested in exploring philosophical or sociological ideas more broadly.

I aim to create a space that is both intellectually rigorous and open, where students can clarify complex concepts, develop their own voice, and ask meaningful questions. I adapt each session to your level and objectives — whether that’s preparing for exams, writing papers, or engaging deeply with a specific thinker or tradition.

I teach in English or Spanish, and welcome students of all levels. I especially enjoy working with curious, motivated learners who want to think seriously and grow in confidence.

Let’s explore ideas together, with patience, depth, and enthusiasm.

- What do the lessons entail?
The tutoring focuses on mathematics in secondary education. I help students understand both the theory and its practical application in exercises. If necessary, I provide additional study materials, such as diagrams, summaries, or resources, to clarify the material.

- My approach
I would appreciate receiving an overview of the study material, tests, or assignments in advance that present difficulties. This allows me to properly prepare the lessons and focus on the student's specific needs. This also allows me to better assess the level.

During tutoring, I try to explain the material in a simple and understandable way, often from a different perspective than in the classroom. My goal is for the student to truly understand the material and gain more confidence. Seeing progress and achieving results together gives me great satisfaction.

- Why do I tutor?
Mathematics has always been a great passion of mine. Although my current studies no longer revolve around it, I still enjoy pursuing it. Tutoring is therefore an ideal combination of hobby and extra income for me. Naturally, I always work in a professional and structured manner.

- Experience
Since 2018, I've been tutoring students of various ages, both in primary and secondary education. I also regularly help fellow students with their learning material, which is always a positive experience.

- Who am I?
My name is Arina, I'm 26 years old and I study law. I live and study in Leuven, where I also live in student housing.

I'm an approachable, enthusiastic, and open person. This helps me quickly build trust, so students feel comfortable and confident asking questions. They know they can contact me outside of tutoring sessions if they get stuck on an exercise, and they often continue to do so afterward.

During my own high school years, I struggled with math in my first and second grades. Although I found the subject interesting, I struggled to fully grasp the material because the explanations didn't align with my learning style.

When I started tutoring (at my parents' insistence), my perspective on mathematics completely changed. My interest grew so strongly that I later pursued a degree in economics and mathematics. My love for mathematics has remained ever since.

Because math wasn't a part of my further studies, I decided to tutor myself. This way, I can share my enthusiasm and help students develop the confidence I once had to build.
