I am a drummer and I began my jazz drumming studies at the conservatory in Italy with Roberto Gatto, while also studying privately with Greg Hutchinson. I then continued my training at the Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands.

I taught for three years at the Schlagzeug Schule Aachen and I currently teach at the European School of Woluwe.

My lessons are tailored to the level and goals of each student, from beginners to more experienced musicians. We will work on technique, rhythm, groove, coordination, and musicality, with a practical approach focused on the joy of playing.

As an active musician and drum teacher, I adapt my lessons to the level, needs and objectives of each student, from beginner to advanced.
I taught at a music academy in Aachen (Germany) and I currently teach at the European School.

I am Thijs (30) an experienced drummer and musician, with a wide range of musical interests. Studying jazz drums under the wings of Lander Gyselinck at the KASK/Conservatory in Ghent. In addition, I have followed masterclasses and lessons from/with Joey Baron (US), Kendrick Scott (US), Corey Fonville (US) and Stéphane Galland (BE). I am also active in various bands/groups.

My lessons, depending on the level, focus on both the fundamental building blocks of drumming and music as a whole. These building blocks together with the student's interests form the curriculum, so that it meets the student's wishes as best as possible. I also teach music theory/music theory. Some aspects of this are also offered during drum lessons.

If you've been eager to get better in drums and therefore studying all its different styles and genres, I definitely can help you with that!
Particularly, I've studied in deep Tony Williams' and Elvin Jones' playing and the main drummers of the jazz era from the 50s to the 70s , so if you really want to improve that kind of vision and sound I can give you some great hints such as transcriptions, analysis, sound strategies and many video materials.
Also, I am specialized in Funk/Hip-Hop music and that kind of groovy world. So, I've been mastering a specific approach to this genre as well.
