I love to teach Chinese language and prepare possible students who wish to study in China or travel to China. My name is Nicolò. I was born in Italy, Trieste and Italian is my native language. Although I was raised in Slovenia, I was schooled in Italian, starting from primary school.

I am social worker by education, but have many years of experience with teaching students of all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers. As a social worker, I have also experience with working with children and have developed individual-based and pedagogical approach.

The lessons are tailored to each student. They are not focused on grammar only, but can also help you develop your reading, listening and communication skills. Each lesson gives you the opportunity to extend your vocabulary by learning a lot of new words, as well as synonyms, idioms and common Italian phrases. You will also learn a lot about Italian culture.

I tailor each lesson according to my student needs. I allow for the first 10 minutes to “steam off” in English/Spanish to express requests, needs, doubts and/or clarifications. Then everything is mandatory in Italian! The only exception made is for improving translation skills, upon request. My academic background allows me to trace the etymology of any given word and to easily spot false-firends, enabling a durable memorisation of new vocabulary.

Lessons usually focus on travelling, contemporary issues, specialised vocabulary of one’s own professional area, and practical vocabulary for daily life.

Examples of tasks:
- Preparing and sending an email to book an hotel room / rent a car
- Understanding and analysing brief videos/audios (i.e. Ted Talks, Podcasts) to post comments
- Explaining a recipe
- Summarising a tv show episode/play/book
- Analysing and translating news, crowdfunding campaigns, and essays.
