Hi, I'm Billy, a guitarist from South East London who has been performing live since I was eighteen. I was trained at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and have over five years of private teaching experience. Having begun as a self-taught musician, I believe it is fundamental for students to first find their passion, as this will provide the necessary motivation to advance. Whether you've just got your first guitar, or you wish to build upon your existing skills and advance your playing - I will make sure to tailor my lessons to you.

About Me

During your first lesson, I will spend some time discussing your goals on the guitar. With
experience teaching young children who have never held an instrument before, all the way to older students with decades of experience who wish to improve their theory and technique, I aim to establish an understanding of why you have sought out guitar lessons, and will demonstrate how I will go about helping you achieve this goal.

While the first lesson partially acts as a ‘get to know you’ session for both of us, I am in regular contact with my students, asking them if there is a particular area they would like to focus on for their next lesson, as well as providing suggestions if the student is unsure.

Experience / Qualifications

With more than seventeen years of playing, over five years experience teaching privately, and two and half years spent in primary schools, I am well versed in teaching both young and old, new and advanced students.

As a versatile musician, I am accomplished in many genres and playing styles, including rock, blues, jazz, metal, funk, disco, country, pop, soul, punk and many more. Having helped students learn their first song, while also helping others improve their improvisation and soloing skills, I am confident and happy to teach students of all ages and abilities.

As a songwriter and performer in my own band, I have performed across the country for many years, showcasing my own compositions. I also have experience working with singer songwriters, function bands and session work.

I have six years of musical education, having studied at Access To Music in Stratford, before studying music at degree level at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in Kilburn, where I achieved First Class Honours.

Accomplished performer and teacher currenly holding position at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. I would love to share with you my passion for improvising and creating new music. Shake off those inhibitions and sign up for a lesson! Discussions about and techniques to help musicians with improvising. Teaching from either violin or keyboard.

A basic or advanced level of instrumental skills is suitable for this class. We will discuss ideas, processes and techniques to assist with improvising.....we’ll explore the use of harmony, rhythmic patterns and how we can train the ear to create patterns in sound.

I am a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with years of experience as a Violinist and am passionate about improvisatory music.

I am an award-winning violinist based in SE London, currently completing my Bachelor degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

My teaching methodology is based on an individual approach to each student. I always try to combine working on technique and basic theoretical knowledge (to understand the music better) with showing the beauty of music. Guitar is a wonderful instrument that has served it’s place in music for centuries. From Mozart to Jimi Hendrix to Tim Henson, the guitar, although humble in nature, has a lot to provide!

Evie studied music at university in London and has been playing violin and viola for over 20 years. She is interested in a broad range of music, which she hopes to share with students of all ages and abilities in their lessons. As a performer, Evie plays in various settings - folk, jazz, in bands, as well as more typical orchestral and chamber ensembles. Her own musical interest currently lies in folk, baroque music and improvisation.

Evie has been teaching a broad range of students for the last eight years: those who wish to take graded exams, those looking to explore folk and improvisation, expand their repertoire, or brush up on technique. She also currently teaches group violin classes at a primary school in London.

She has found that encouraging a structured and regular practice at home, if possible with the help of a parent or guardian, is the best way to reach goals and feel confident while playing. Most of all, she encourages students to be open-minded, inquisitive, and ready to listen to a variety of music! Evie is always ready to cater specifically to the needs and interests of the student, and to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. I am a classically trained pianist with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano and a Master’s degree in Musical Directing, bringing over a decade of experience to both performance and teaching.

With more than 12 years of experience working with adults and children, including those with special needs and learning differences, I have developed a teaching style that is both patient and structured. I believe that a strong foundation in technique opens the door for true musical expression, allowing every student—no matter their age or ability—to discover the joy of making music.
