About Me
I have been teaching since 1990 across a broad spectrum of physical disciplines. Since 2006 I have become a firm advocate of the ‘modern intelligent’ approach, I draw on anatomy, biomechanics, neurology, philosophy, psychology, and traditional practices.

Our life experiences and history affect how we approach our practice. I’d like to tell you a bit about mine and encourage you to consider and value all your own too.

Games lessons and physical education (PE) were part of our school curriculum. I also took part in athletics and many team sports. My first formal physical instruction outside of that came in pre-season training for a local football team. As a teenager I bought my own weights and followed a famous body builder’s program. You may have had some similar experiences.

In my early twenties I attended my first ever yoga class, that was with Sama Fabian. At the time I was doing a full time professional musical theatre performers training which involved a great deal of dancing, body conditioning and stretching. Dance often encourages us to aspire to be like the greats, to have an external locus of evaluation. Dancers and theatre performers often inhabit an outward, audience facing dynamic. I was seeking something else from the yoga.

I became a contemporary dancer, however in my thirties my interest in yoga was greatly enhanced after I performed for seven years with internationally renowned yoga theatre group Tripsicore, touring throughout the USA and UK. The company yoga repertoire was completely transformational for me even after twelve years of dancing. I became more centered, focused, and grounded. My skillset improved immensely; dynamic acrobatic balances, strength, lyrical flowing movement and flexibility (joint mobility). I became a much better performer.

My growing interest motivated me to complete a teaching diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga, recognised by the Sports Council as the governing body for yoga in England and Wales.

Nine years after becoming a yoga teacher I experienced another major shift in understanding when I began to study the modern intelligent approach. Applying scientific reasoning to the traditional eastern aims. This approach in particular encourages us to empathically value our internal and external sensations, to discover an internal locus of evaluation, in the moment. To develop our own individuality towards contentment or even self-actualization.

This class is dedicated to all those who wish to calm the nervous system and work on rooting themselves in the present moment. Connecting with the body and its language. A combination of yoga and somatic techniques that help us understand how our body works and its relationship with the mind.

For all levels, because we're not looking for virtuosity in complicated positions, but to refine our perception, communication and understanding of our ‘total self’.

We'll use asanas and pranayama, as well as micromovements and meditation. Everyone is welcome!

A perfect class if you're going through a period of stress or a lot of mental activity or worry, if you lead a very sedentary life, or simply if you want to relax and move your body.

The purpose of those classes is education, not on the superficial level of mimicking form, but on a profoundly deep level of understanding the full use of the body as an integral whole to maximize full function of each individual's unique movement potential.

The aim is toward maximum physicality in function and overall health as well as a state of relaxation and a stimulation of the body's energy centres and meridians that is revitalising and
healing.

The benefits of yoga also include gaining flexibility and working on breathing skills concentration, balance, endurance, muscular and vital strength, as well as strengthening the nervous system and immune system.

The content and dynamics of the practices will be adapted to your experience, needs, age, and specific circumstances, seeking to gain the greatest possible benefit.

I have experience working with and teaching beginners and people with little experience of physical work as well as children in the field of dance, acting movement, and yoga.
