¿Por o para? Spanish conversation course - dare to speak!
From 46.31 C$ /h
In this series of lessons we focus on conversations. Often the most difficult step is from theoretical knowledge to practice. Do you suddenly start to hesitate in a conversation whether you should use 'perfecto' or 'imperfecto' when you want to talk about that trip last summer? Was it 'por' or 'para' as a preposition?
Depending on your interests, we start the lesson by reading a customized text or discussing a photo. That text or photo will then serve as a starting point for the conversation.

About Me
I am Maxim, born and raised in Ostend, Belgium. After my studies at Ghent University, I completed a PhD in Literature (Spanish/Latin).
After working at the University of Chicago for one year, I moved to Barcelona in 2019, where I currently live with my Argentine wife and one-year-old daughter Montse.
Teaching Spanish is a passion I have been sharing with students for years through tutoring. I often notice a great need to put acquired theoretical knowledge into practice through conversation, and that is exactly what I want to offer here. Naturally, we can also delve deeper into grammar or specific vocabulary, if desired. Specific themes are chosen based on the student's profile.
In addition, I am passionate about Latin from post-classical periods (e.g., the Renaissance). I enjoy reading Latin texts with students with an open mind, texts that are closer to the everyday world. The focus is initially on linear reading; grammatical or cultural aspects may be explored in greater depth afterwards.

Be surprised by a varied offer. In this series of tutoring lessons I give tips to be able to read Latin texts fluently. Using a number of selected texts from post-classical periods (mainly the Renaissance), both prose and poetry, we approach Latin as a modern language. This means that we read linearly and do not try to solve the sentence structures as a puzzle. The intended goal is to read Latin in a fluent and pleasant way, as well as to become acquainted with Latin texts and cultures from later periods.
