I am an approved primary school teacher specialised in tutoring math, English, Australian Naplan and Opportunity Class subjects. Through my tutoring lessons, I strive to engage students and help support them in their learning by adopting a social based teaching and learning strategy. This means that students can learn in an uninterrupted and relaxed environment, free from stress and where they can take risks to improve their learning. However, keeping students challenged is also important. During my lessons, I also strive to keep students challenged but not overwhelmed through periodic quizzes to assess their performance and achievements as well as provide progress report to students for reflection and feedback time at the end of lessons so to allow learning to be solidified.

About Me

My name is Jacky and I am a university graduate with a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education qualification with multilingual fluencies (English, Mandarin and Cantonese); experience as a classroom teacher; working with children with special needs. More importantly, I also have experiences and skills in providing quality STEM teaching through the implementation of ICT, collaborative learning, investigative and explicit teaching instructions.

Becoming an educator was not an easy choice, but the influences from schooling and the passion teachers possess to promote and support students with their learning have greatly influenced my decision to becoming a teacher, and these factors not only promoted me to carry on the passion but also cemented my vision for teaching.

Every student who comes to my tutoring class will not be left our. No matter their learning background nor their performance. Through my tutoring lessons, I strive to provide and offer students a positive and engaging learning atmospheres where students are promoted to take risks and achieve their personal best as well as meeting individual student learning needs through implementation of support, student- centered, social based and engaging lessons. Moreover, I also like to engage students in discussions of the learning so to promote thinking broadly about a given topic. This is extremely important as when students think broadly, they are more likely to investigate a problem or question more closely and critically.

4. Worked in North Shore Coaching College tutoring students from different grades in English, GA, creative writing and mathematics
