About Me

Hello, I'm Salma. I am an educationalist, teacher and tutor with over ten years experience tutoring students through school examinations and to academic success.

As an Ofsted-graded 'outstanding' teacher I have lead Literacy and Science teams, helped create in-school curriculums and trained teachers and staff in effective Literacy lessons, behaviour management and creativity in the classroom.

I have tutored many children and teenagers, helping them at different stages of their schooling. From teaching Reading to underachieving year 1 children, to supporting secondary school students in their Math and Science examinations, I bring with me the latest resources in education and techniques to ensure success.

Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress students undergo adapting to new schooling systems. I enjoy working privately with students to build their confidence. I previously was a primary school teacher of all subjects (Grades 1&2) for a private international school in Dubai. I am familiar with international school curriculum and challenges faced by students when moving to a new country.

I have extensive experience with students of all learning levels. I have been privately tutoring for over 10 years now. English is my first language (I am American). I am an excellent writer, editor, and researcher and work part time in UVA's graduate school in the sociology department. I completed my MSc at UVA and undergraduate at UCLA.

This class aims to equip the student with a hands on knowledge regarding design. Design is not merely trends and style there is a whole concept and working behind it. Learning languages are always more fun when involving an interaction based on personal interests! That's why I could take a more conventional approach to teaching but I prefer an interactive engaging type of class. We can start with basic daily life based conversations to delving into more detailed and specific contexts, to a level where any types of topics can be covered.
I would encourage students and myself to only converse in the language that is being taught. But I could still provide explanation and guidance in either Korean or English!
