About Me

Pedro is a classical guitarist from Portugal. His interests range from performing to teaching and arranging music. Pedro's debut album, with his own transcriptions of sonatas by Carlos Seixas - is the only solo guitar recording entirely dedicated to the Portuguese composer.

Although his first passion was Karate, which he started intensively training at the age of 4, his elder brother soon introduced him to several instruments. After his performance of Fado singing accompanied by José Fontes Rocha, the legendary Amália Rodrigues's guitarist influenced his parents to engage him in a formal music education.

Pedro studied with Dejan Ivanović in Conservatório de Música Jaime Chavinha in Minde (Portugal) and with Darko Petrinjak at the Zagreb Music Academy (Croatia). He attended inspiring masterclasses with Zoran Dukić, Carlo Marchione, Pablo Marquez and Costas Cotsiolis.

Apart from being a soloist, he currently takes part in several chamber music projects, such as duos with soprano and flute. He is a founding member of guitar trio Elogio, with Petrit Çeku and Tomislav Vukšić.

He teaches guitar and chamber music and he is a co-founder and a permanent teacher of Youngmasters Festival in Samobor, Croatia. His students have won an impressive number of prizes in international competitions. Lately, he's been presenting a new guitar teaching approach in the lecture Well-tempered lesson.

Learning to play the guitar can be an amazing experience at every stage of the process! My ultimate goal is to help my students to develop their skills and musical understanding by learning and playing music that they like.

Therefore I adapt my teaching methodologies to the tastes and needs of every student. Throughout every lesson, we will work on three main courses of development: technical aspects, theoretical knowledge, and performative practice.

Course I: Vocal lessons

The vocal lessons are designed on the student’s needs, meaning that during the lessons we will work on whatever is there to improve in order to let you get the most from your singing voice!

During the lessons we will learn exercises to warm up and cool down the voice (so a pre- and a post- workout); we will work on vocal technique, doing specific exercises based on specific needs; we will work on the repertoire, choosing appropriate songs according to your taste and to what suits your voice the best. But, most of all, we are going to have FUN while learning and improving!

For the first lesson it would be ideal to bring one song that you know well and that you like to sing and preferably you sang already. You don’t have any song yet? no problem at all, we will start with nice exercises and we can choose together a song to work on!

Course II: Guitar lessons

Have you ever wanted to improve your guitar skills with the goal of accompanying your voice while singing? During this lessons we can work together to find the best way to accompany yourself, using the guitar as a support for your beautiful voice!

You will learn nice voicings, left and right hand technique and how to groove with nice rhythmical patterns.

Hi I'm Daniel, an enthusiastic and dedicated guitar teacher who loves meeting his students' own goals. By combining my 6 years of experience in teaching guitar with my students' own interests, I help my students make progress in the most engaging way possible.

Throughout the past 17 years I have played a wide variety of different guitar genres. From classical to jazz, and from pop to funk. Nowadays I mostly write and play my own music which is a mix of all those genres. My approach to learning and playing music has always been very much based on intuition and the emphasis is not as much on theory.

I would be happy to teach you how to use more intuition while playing and/or writing music. I also play piano and sing if you want to learn more about any of those! Lastly, I teach courses and workshops about creativity so if you want to explore your own creativity and get a better understanding of your own creative processes in relation to music then I can definitely help you out with that!

Hey, I'm Iván, an argentinian musician that recently moved to Amsterdam. I've been a guitarist for more than 10 years and even though it is not the only thing i do with music, i've always enjoyed teaching. As a teacher i usually base my method on playing actual music oriented on the student's personal taste, with the possibility of developing in a more academic way later on if required.
I studied classical guitar in Argentina and Spain, i've taught since i was a child and i have 3 trinity college degrees on classical guitar, rock and pop guitar and music theory.

Hi there,

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 and was immediately hooked. Within a year I started playing in youth bands and projects, and during high school I moved to a music school where I began performing with bands and teaching guitar to kids as my first job. I later completed two bachelor’s degrees, the second in jazz guitar, at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since then I’ve been working full time as a session guitarist, songwriter, and musical director with artists like Karsu, Alain Clark, Ruth Jacott, Jennie Lena, and many others, as well as releasing my own music as an independent artist under my stage name Jessy Hay. I’m extremely passionate about music theory, ear training, and music history, and I try to combine all of these with practical approaches to create a complete package for guitar enthusiasts.

Over the years I’ve developed many methods and seen hundreds of students grow from being stuck on the instrument to becoming full-on improvisers and composers across many genres. I love to combine the theory and improvisation I’ve learned from jazz, together with the groove and rhythm from funk and soul, the attitude from rock, and the production and songwriting skills from pop music. I’m also very interested in Middle Eastern music, for students who want to explore other scales, Maqams, and musical languages. Lessons usually start by discussing the student’s goals and current level, followed by exercises and pieces tailored to their needs. I also provide guidance on instrument setup, tone, and technique, to ensure a solid foundation. My aim is to give students a full 360° view of music: understanding the language, knowing what you’re doing, and developing your own ways of improving by becoming more familiar with both the instrument and the musical language itself.
