Solfège is one of these indispensable tools that contributes to the development of musical hearing. With that a basis can be formed for the general musical understanding. Through my role as a student assistant of various theory subjects (including solfège) at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, I have had the opportunity to teach students with many different ages and backgrounds. My approach: • The lessons are always in line with the environment and the theoretical knowledge that the student already has. • Creative thinking is used in the lessons. This is done, for example, by improvising melodies or coming up with a second voice based on feeling. • I also encourage critical thinking and listening. I do this by not giving too much pre-chewed information, but by an experiential approach. • In practice I use different solfège methods (tonic sol-fa, or using numbers in a scale). My experience has shown that not every system is ideal for everyone. That is why I am flexible in my approach and I will always coordinate this on my students.

Playing classical guitar offers an entry into a world of peace and beauty. However, the beginnings can be challenging, as playing the instrument requires a lot of technique. This class is designed to help beginners navigate the intricacies of classical guitar while introducing basic music theory, including how to read sheet music. The class is suitable for anyone interested in learning to play classical guitar.

Or do you just want to pick up a few songs on the guitar to impress your friends/colleagues without the hassle of committing to some serious music theory? I believe the biggest lesson I can share with you about playing the guitar is: practice! and inspiration. Practise is critical, and you can't practice if you're uninspired. Do you want to: a. Learn easy songs and entertain people? b. Play live or record? c. Move on quickly to an electric guitar? d. Get the blues/country vibes? e. Get the flamenco (Phrygian) vibes? f. Play percussive guitar? g. Play instrumental guitar (no singing)? h. Cover pop songs? i. Compose?!?!?!? On the very first meeting, we will discuss your desired guitar goals and realize if I'd be able to help you with them. If you do choose to go ahead with me for guitar classes, the curriculum will look something like this: 1. Music appreciation (this is important for being inspired! the more videos you watch the better! I have playlists you can follow for now and develop your own taste in guitar playing). 2. Finding your way on the fretboard. 3. Finger exercises. 4. Fingerstyle picking/ plucking (depending on the genres that inspire you the most now). 5. Scales, arpeggios, chords, and chord families. 6. Cover songs. 7. Music theory. 8. Keeping up with the tempo (not Kardashians 😛 ) 9. Improvisation and play by ear (or eyes) In professional classes, they'll teach you tempo way earlier but I think it kills the mood for learning. Hence, that is something I intend to cover later. Realistically, we can partially complete steps 1 through 6. Steps 7, 8, and 9 will indeed take a lot of time. So, what are you waiting for? Hello, I am 21 years old girl from Lithuania, living in Amsterdam, studying music. In Lithuania I was working as a kids music teacher. I was teaching some of them how to play flute and trumpet, also I finished piano so I was giving private piano lessons and also now I am studying jazz vocal so I also can teach vocal. I can also help with general music theory.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.
