I specialise in making music with the computer when there isn't a whole bunch of theory knowledge there. I can teach you to quickly and efficiently make that tune in your head into a reality, then turn that into a full track.

If you have tried a few tutorials or courses and they didn't fit with you because of all the engineering jargon and theory based approach, this course is for you! I learnt to make music because I was hearing all these songs in my head but wasn't good enough at any instrument to materialise them. Ableton allowed me to hash through ideas, jam with them, then finally turn them into a full working track. I have also worked as a live and studio sound engineer so I do have the theoretical knowledge but can communicate in the language of learners from all different levels.

I think there are a lot of people that just need to express what they have in there head and Ableton is by far the best program for that. It is very intuitive, "jammable" and so much fun!

For me Ableton is my instrument but I also play the drums, piano and bass.

Musicology of Production – Understanding production aesthetics across genres
Music Perception & Cognition – Exploring how listeners emotionally and mentally respond to music
Recording & Production Techniques – Multitrack recording, mic placement, signal flow, and editing

These experiences have enriched my understanding of music, and I'm eager to share these insights with you.

In our lessons, you will explore various aspects of music composition:

· Compose Your Own Music: Learn how to create music that resonates with you and your audience, regardless of your current skill level.
· Find Inspiration: Discover diverse sources of inspiration to keep your compositions fresh and engaging.
· Instrumental Possibilities: Gain a deeper understanding of different instruments and how they can enhance your music.
· Personalised Compositional Toolbox: Develop a unique set of skills and techniques that reflect your individual style.

You can choose to focus on areas such as:

— Classical Music: Explore both traditional and contemporary classical composition.
— Songwriting: Craft songs in a variety of styles.
— Electronic Music Production: Dive into the world of electronic music across genres.
— Music for Cinema and Video Games: Learn about composing for visual media
— Music Installations and Generative Music: Experiment with innovative music technology, using softwares like Max MSP, Logic Pro X or even AI.

The lessons will be more than just learning how to compose; they will be about discovering your unique musical identity and the fun of bringing it to life. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance your existing skills, I'm here to guide and support you on this musical journey.

Even in fairly high profile scenarios, producing a realistic midi mockup of sampled instrument is nowadays a very helpful skill. It's not always possible to arrange recordings with real musicians, and at the same time we as composers want to showcase what we can do in the best way possible, and our clients will rightfully ask for the best quality despite the potential lack of budget.

A wonderfully crafted piece of music can easily fall apart without proper knowledge of sample manipulation in this sense. Beside being a composer myself, I had the luck of working for years in studios that specialized in midi productions and sample library programming: I can teach you the software I write with (Cubase) and, more in general, how to get the best results out of your sample libraries, by manipulating them inside of Kontatk/Sine/Spitfire engine, or by advicing you on how to proper postproduce it. We can cover every stage of production, up to the basis of mixing and mastering.

Music is Play! and everyone is its own game.
Understand and make only the music you like. If it isn't fun, it can't be music!

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music and playing synths, drum machines, and computers. It's longer than 5 years now!
Electronic music is a very vast world. The possibilities are endless. But do you need to learn everything, or only what interests you to make the music you want to do? From listening and analyzing a song you like, we will go through the necessary knowledge for you to achieve it:
- What do you need to build your home studio in order to create something similar?
- Which instruments (or plugins) are being used.
- Whether or not a knowledge of music theory is necessary.
- And in which different ways / through which paths could you achieve something like what you desire?

At the same time that we analyze and learn, you are also going to be encouraged to create! Practice makes the master, and the more you create, the more familiar you'll be with the tools and the environments that we learn in class. A part of the class is also going to be dedicated to listening to what you created and going through different ways we may improve it.

For people interested in live electronics (live-processing an acoustic instrument or programming live sets), I also have knowledge of Max MSP and I can teach the basics or help you program any kind of device you propose.

PD: I have also experienced imparting piano lessons, which is also a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create any kind of path between piano, synths, beats, and home studio techniques.

Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Do you want to master the musical keyboard and use it to create sensational sounds? Then be sure to get more than what you want.
You'll also learn how to generate a musical piece with a computer, depending on the type of music you want to create.
You’ll become an expert in using virtual instruments and other digital tools. Some popular options include FL Studio, GarageBand, Ableton Live and Q-base. These programs can be used to create a wide range of music styles, from electronic to orchestral.

Music production is one thing that refers to a lot of different things as it's in a sort of middle ground between something purely musical as composition, instrumentation or arraging and the technical aspect, like mixing, mastering or using a daw.
In this classes we can focus on what you want to do or learn regarding those topics, or the ones that I think would help you best, putting an emphasis on how you can apply the information that you gain in your own way or imitating certain aspects of a specific genre, finishing songs, mixing them or just to loose the fear of making music and became more relaxed in a creative sense and have fun with it.
