About Me
With a lifelong dedication to music and an international career behind the decks, [Your Name] brings passion, skill, and deep industry knowledge to every DJ course.

Having started in music at just 8 years old, Erik ( aka DJ Erik Saigon) is a proud alum of Philadelphia’s prestigious Girard Academic Music Program and the celebrated CAPA high school — alma mater of Boyz II Men. He continued honing his craft at The Esther Boyer College of Music (1995–2002), before earning a degree in International Business Management and French from the University of Tampa in 2007.

His DJ journey officially launched at Amsterdam’s renowned Q-Factory School of Music in 2019, where he trained and developed a style rooted in technical precision and crowd connection. Since then, he’s played at iconic venues including Paradiso, the Reguliersdwaarstraat, Lisbon, Milan, Coimbra and Soho House, captivating audiences with genre-blending sets that reflect both deep musical knowledge and global perspective.

Whether you're just starting out or looking to level up your skills, My course is designed to give you the foundation, confidence, and creative inspiration to succeed behind the decks or as an entrepreneur

Entrepreneur | Innovator | Relentless Builder of What Comes Next

From coffee-stained blueprints to boardroom breakthroughs, Erik has walked the long road from dreamer to doer. A self-made entrepreneur with fire in his veins and strategy in his stride, he’s founded, scaled, and steered ventures that don’t just chase trends—they set them.

Erik thrives where chaos meets opportunity. He’s known for transforming wild ideas into market-tested realities, mentoring the next wave of changemakers, and navigating the highs and lows of the startup grind with a mix of grit, grace, and gallows humor.

With a track record of turning obstacles into launchpads and a passion for teaching the truth behind entrepreneurship (spoiler: it's not all lattes and laptop beaches), Erik brings raw wisdom and lived experience to the Apparentus community. He doesn’t just talk business—he builds it, breaks it, and builds it again, better.

This class is for anyone, musicians or non-musicians, professionals or amateurs, who want to discover how to express themselves through music.

I've had the unique opportunity to work as the orchestrator and conductor for the soundtrack of "Ice Merchants," a film that got an Oscar nomination, a first prize in Cannes and more than 100 international awards. Besides working in film, my journey in the realm of music composition has been rich and varied, composing music for solo instrumentalists, chamber ensembles or even opera or large orchestras. These experiences have enriched my understanding of music, and I'm eager to share these insights with you.

In our lessons, you will explore various aspects of music composition:

· Compose Your Own Music: Learn how to create music that resonates with you and your audience, regardless of your current skill level.
· Find Inspiration: Discover diverse sources of inspiration to keep your compositions fresh and engaging.
· Instrumental Possibilities: Gain a deeper understanding of different instruments and how they can enhance your music.
· Personalised Compositional Toolbox: Develop a unique set of skills and techniques that reflect your individual style.

You can choose to focus on areas such as:

— Classical Music: Explore both traditional and contemporary classical composition.
— Songwriting: Craft songs in a variety of styles.
— Electronic Music Production: Dive into the world of electronic music across genres.
— Music for Cinema and Video Games: Learn about composing for visual media
— Music Installations and Generative Music: Experiment with innovative music technology, using softwares like Max MSP, Logic Pro X or even AI.

The lessons will be more than just learning how to compose; they will be about discovering your unique musical identity and the fun of bringing it to life. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance your existing skills, I'm here to guide and support you on this musical journey.

Music is Play! and everyone is its own game.
Understand and make only the music you like. If it isn't fun, it can't be music!

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music and playing synths, drum machines, and computers. It's longer than 5 years now!
Electronic music is a very vast world. The possibilities are endless. But do you need to learn everything, or only what interests you to make the music you want to do? From listening and analyzing a song you like, we will go through the necessary knowledge for you to achieve it:
- What do you need to build your home studio in order to create something similar?
- Which instruments (or plugins) are being used.
- Whether or not a knowledge of music theory is necessary.
- And in which different ways / through which paths could you achieve something like what you desire?

At the same time that we analyze and learn, you are also going to be encouraged to create! Practice makes the master, and the more you create, the more familiar you'll be with the tools and the environments that we learn in class. A part of the class is also going to be dedicated to listening to what you created and going through different ways we may improve it.

For people interested in live electronics (live-processing an acoustic instrument or programming live sets), I also have knowledge of Max MSP and I can teach the basics or help you program any kind of device you propose.

PD: I have also experienced imparting piano lessons, which is also a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create any kind of path between piano, synths, beats, and home studio techniques.

Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!
