Generally, with younger children I use the direct method, only using English and with an audio-lingual approach, so that they get used to the language before seeing it in written form. With young adults, who usually have a good base of the language, I do more grammar and vocabulary exercises, as well as practicing conversation and writing skills.
If a student needs to take an English proficiency test (such as IELTS or TOEFL) or wishes to improve their writing skills, there will be a greater focus on grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure.
