I experienced studying classical piano for 5 years, classical percussions for 5 years and I'm currently studying Jazz Drums in Amsterdam.
This class is for those that want to learn playing the drums in different genres.
I always try to care about the student's taste, in order to keep it interesting and worth it.
I can also provide classes of solfège (reading) and basic music theory notions.

About Me

I am a 22 years old italian student. I am from Rome and I come from a 5 people family.
My life experience made me understand how important is to reach people on a personal level expecially when it's about teaching.
In order to share knowledge, it's important to have a common ground with people and understand their personalitis. This is the basis of my teaching method.
I have been playing classical music, rock, indie and jazz; I am open to follow the students taste and to give as much as I can give all the times.

Education

I started my musical experience studying classical piano from a private teacher for 5 years. Then I started studying classical percussions and I took Diploma at "A.Manzoni Liceo Musicale". In this period of my life I experienced playing a lot of rock, indie, hard rock, grunge music.
I currently live in Amsterdam where I have been now for three years. Here I had the chance to play with beautiful musicians from the Dutch Jazz scene such as: Jasper Bloom, Joris Roelofs, Harmen Fraanje, Ben van Gelder, Reinier Baas etc...

Experience / Qualifications

During the classical studies he had the chance to participate to different concourses like “Concorso Musicale Nazionale G.Visconti” first price, in Rome, “Schools Internationals Talents” 2 place, in Turin, “Giovani Musici” in 2015, and I won prices as a soloist and as a member of the “Latina Percussion Ensemble” directed by M°Salvatore Campo.
In November 2017 he recorded with the “Joelle Goldman Jazz Orchestra feat. Reinier Baas”.
In 2017 and 2018 he had the chance to perform with several bands in Portugal, Germany, Belgium and Holland.
In 2019 I played at the "Porta Jazz Festival" in Porto, Portugal, with Josè Soares, Joris Roelofs, Harmen Fraanje.
I am currently active in the Amsterdam's jazz scene.

I have a background of 7 years of classical piano and I also have been studing and playing Jazz (drums) for the past 8 years of my life (currently finishing my studies in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

My goal is to teach people with no experience in music or drums and want to learn the basics of music theory, solfège and drums but also to more experienced students who want to improve their technique, coordination, sound, groove, etc.

I can also teach different musical genres on the drums, depending on the taste of the student

If you are already advanced drummer and would like to learn more specific things I can offer you help with the drumming topics that you want to work on. I have studied at the Conservatory of Ljubljana and I am currently studying jazz at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Hey!! I am Giannis. I am a Greek jazz drummer and I study in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
In my lessons I try to communicate the love for music to my students as my teachers did for me.
Lessons for all levels and ages!!

For beginners:
- We work on songs that the student wants to learn and we develop the sense of rhythm and the appropriate technique to play the drums.

For intermediate level:
- We work on getting a sufficient drummer with good tempo, developed vocabulary and wide repertoire.

For Advanced level:
- We can work mainly in jazz vocabulary, soloing, comping, time, feel and repertoire

We will talk about your goals and together we will figure out what you exactly need to level up.

I will design a practice schedule for you with suitable exercises that you personally enjoy and find fun, cos. Hey, music is supposed to be a stress buster, but that being said you gotta work to get better at anything.

We will also talk about how it is to be a professional musician in the current music scene, and what skills apart from drumming are needed to be a musician.

We will explore the instrument from a contemporary perspective based on tradition in order to not only survive in any musical context, but also exceed expectations. We will work together to develop all aspects of a good contemporary drummer: technique, control, coordination, independence, creativity and expression. As a teacher and student, I can assure you that the development of a musician is not only born from training and theory, but also from the enjoyment of playing the instrument, so in this course you will have 50% technical work and 50% development of skills. repertoire (songs you want to play).
