My name is Paolo, I’m an Italian pianist and composer. My musical life started when I was 9, moved by a bit of curiosity I put on a classical music CD, the speakers played Chopin’s 1st Ballade and that was the first time I had goose bumps listening to a music piece. This experience was so strong that I wanted to recreate that feeling, so I started to study piano. The instrument is really good for a first approach to the music; after a little while, with lessons and practice, it’s possibile to play a very simple composition with a great satisfaction. Through out the years I faced many obstacles, especially technical difficulties. I had great teachers who helped me to know and understand the instrument, they also taught me to love the music I was playing without shame for mistakes. Like in sports you need to train yourself, learn movements and adjust coordination, but it’s also very important to love what you are doing and be passionate about it. This is what you will learn with me, in a friendly and relaxed environment. I studied in Brescia, Milano and Amsterdam. My main fields were piano, chamber music and composition. I am a practicing artist with an BA and MA in Fine Arts by L'Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and by the Sandberg Instituut. My course focuses on giving the students the tools and knowledge necessary for applying to Art School or for funding for more specific projects. I will help you develop a portfolio and guide in the development of the work by analysing with you conceptually and formally. We will engage in a conversation that provides the student with a better understanding of the body of work being produced and presented. The course structures differently depending on the needs of the student, and can range from exercises in theory, practice, translation, synthesis and experimentation, as well as working on presentation and discourse. My practice is specific to sculpture, installation, performance, and space design and can provide insight and tools in these mediums very precisely, but of course we will not be restricted to these as a pluridisciplinary artist. I have a large studio near Oosterpark with many tools and space for creation and experimentation if necessary. Available in the studio: ceramic tools and kiln, metal tools, wood tools, mold making and casting, and many other. The course proposes a methodology from concept, writing, and experimentation, to execution, collaboration and presentation, necessary for a contemporary artist in todays art ecosystem. We will work with context as well: visiting works, museums, galleries and spaces run for and by artists in todays contemporary environment. I have successful experience with the application system for project funding and juried interviews that we can focus on depending on the needs of the student. The purpose of this class is to learn french through the french culture and oral conversation. There will be different approaches to learning french : activities related to the French culture (depending on the age and personal preferences), a more conventional method of learning (for grammar for example, if needed), oral conversation (about actuality, the culture, art,...), and possibly the study of books, texts, movies in french. During the class I will mostly speak french, and I consider oral conversation a very important part of the class. If you need to focus on grammar, spelling, or conjugation it is not a problem at all and the exercises will evolve with your specific needs and level. I always estimate your level and the points we need to work on during the first class so we know on what to focus on. If you feel the need to learn even more, I will also give homework such as specific grammar exercises, and I will recommend to you some books to read in french or movies to watch depending on your interests.

Adrian (1997) is an Amsterdam-based guitarist from Caracas, Venezuela that is part of the up-coming generation of the Dutch Jazz scene. Winner of the Erasmus Jazz Prize 2019, Adrian has performed at top festivals such as North Sea Jazz Fest, North Sea Round Town and Grachtenfestival, and has also shared the stage with established and emerging musicians such as Benjamin Herman, Stefan Lievestro and Alessandro Fongaro. Adrian (1997) started classical guitar lessons at age 11 but quickly switched to electric guitar because of his passion for rock music. At age 14, he was admitted to the TJC Music School in his hometown, Caracas, where he studied jazz guitar, graduating with honours at age 17. While living in Venezuela, Adrian started playing professionally at 16 years old, being called a “young promise”. In 2017, Adrian moved to The Netherlands to study at Codarts University of the Arts, later transferring to Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2019 to study with Jesse van Ruller, Reinier Baas, Martijn van Iterson, Maarten van der Grinten, and many more. I'm a bassist who gladly shares his love and passion for music with anyone that would like to learn. Sound and groove are the most important tools a bassist can have.
