ESL, ESL for expat parents, ESL in the NetherlandsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I have years of experience with ESL and have taken multiple courses training myself in the best ways to tutor in ESL. I am happy to teach all ages. I currently teach several adults and numerous younger students. I specialize in students who have recently moved to the Netherlands and have little to no experience with English. I apply a hybrid method of ESL and school curriculum. After working for four years as a private tutor in Amsterdam for numerous international families, I have discovered a love for teaching Adult ESL. My goal is to not only to teach ESL tailored to life in the Netherlands, but to also offer advice and support to expat adults around life in Amsterdam. I currently work with the parents of many of my students who wish to improve their English. I am a former primary school teacher (International School of Choueifat-Dubai) who now works exclusively as a private tutor. My students are mainly expats, though I also do have several local Dutch students. Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress families undergo adapting to a new school system. After four year in Amsterdam, I also now understand the unique stress parents also endure adapting to Dutch culture and regular use of the English language. My teaching methods focus on improving Adult ESL that is tailored specifically to life in the Netherlands. I design my teaching plans, with my students, to cover the most essential aspects of English that are needed to navigate life in Amsterdam. Moreover, I have a deep understanding of how English in the Netherlands differs from conversational English in other countries. I have a grasp of the nuances of both languages and the areas which pose particular difficulty. I really enjoy the motivation of my adult students and the unique friendships I have formed through teaching. I know how isolated some parents who are neither native English nor Dutch speakers feel when moving to Amsterdam. I am happy to teach all ages either in person or via webcam. **All rates include 21% KVK sales tax

Course I: Vocal lessons The vocal lessons are designed on the student’s needs, meaning that during the lessons we will work on whatever is there to improve in order to let you get the most from your singing voice! During the lessons we will learn exercises to warm up and cool down the voice (so a pre- and a post- workout); we will work on vocal technique, doing specific exercises based on specific needs; we will work on the repertoire, choosing appropriate songs according to your taste and to what suits your voice the best. But, most of all, we are going to have FUN while learning and improving! For the first lesson it would be ideal to bring one song that you know well and that you like to sing and preferably you sang already. You don’t have any song yet? no problem at all, we will start with nice exercises and we can choose together a song to work on! Course II: Guitar lessons Have you ever wanted to improve your guitar skills with the goal of accompanying your voice while singing? During this lessons we can work together to find the best way to accompany yourself, using the guitar as a support for your beautiful voice! You will learn nice voicings, left and right hand technique and how to groove with nice rhythmical patterns.

Translating the music from your head to your guitar! AMSTERDAM/ARNHEM GitaarlesTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Translating the music from your head to your guitar! AMSTERDAM/ARNHEM GitaarlesTranslate this text using Google Translate.

The lesson can take many shapes and forms. The main benefit of learning with a teacher, rather than from a video or a book, is that each lesson can be different and tailored to your needs! For example, you can bring a song you're trying or want to learn (recording or sheet music/tab) and we'll work on it together. You can come with a specific problem like a part or technique you cannot get right. Maybe you are just in a place where you don't know what to do next. Don't worry, I'll help you set your musical voyage on course. Finally, if you don't want or feel like bringing anything, you just want to come and have fun playing and talking about music — that's also great! Here are the examples of different problems I can help you solve: • arranging songs you like on the guitar, • improving technique by playing music you like, • upgrading the campfire chops, • composing indie lines and sounds, talking about pedals, • learning to improvise, • learning music theory, • learning jazz standards, • basics of recording, making demos, and backing tracks. If you like the sound of that, send me a message! I will help you navigate the universe of music you like or hear in your head – regardless of the genre or your level of advancement.

Cello lessons in Dutch, Spanish or English (live or online)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Cello lessons in Dutch, Spanish or English (live or online)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Do you want to work on classical repertoire? Do you want to learn songs from around the world or invent your own? do you want to play happy birthday to your best friend with a Cello? Let's explore together this beautiful instrument with pieces that you like, finding different ways to play one thing, becoming actors on the stage of music... Let's create games to develop creativity and technique, those that will help you to personalise your way of playing. With music, we learn much more than just playing pieces. I always thought about how the ancient Greeks introduced Music as an essential subject in school. Music was to heal, to entertain, to get to know yourself more. I'm just finished my studies in the University of Arts of Codarts (Rotterdam) and I can't deny I will always keep learning after finishing my degree. I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and to hear what you already know. What can i offer? Styles that we can work on: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop music. Languages that we can speak in the lesson: Dutch, English, Catalan or/and Spanish Skills that we can work on: basic techniques, jazz and folk techniques, play the cello while singing, percussion on the cello. How do I work? Each class will be individually prepared, in order to have the student goals in mind. In our first lesson we can get to know each other and then we will figure out what do you want and how can I help you. For BEGINNERS I teach the bow, finger positions and other basics with easy songs (with kids I add games to make it more entreating). Such as relating painting with playing, dancing with playing or literature with playing. For AVERAGE LEVEL we explore, with already some technique, how to play songs, finding a good sound and feel at ease with the instrument. Extra activities: Once a month I plan a rehearsal with pianist to work on some repertoire of cello and piano. Meetings with other students are also arranged to play duos together. It's very necessary to play with people and not get stuck in our own individual studies! Do you have doubts or need more information? Don't hesitate to write me a message!

We had our first session a few days ago, with Alessandra tutoring my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter, developing their reading and writing in English and their mathematics. Alessandra's previous experience as a teacher certainly shines through, as she definitely seems to know how children of this age learn. She provided original and exciting activities for the kids and they found it great fun; they are looking forward to seeing her again next week. Alessandra was professional to work with and I can definitely recommend her.

In terms of vocabulary, I had a good foundation through Duolingo. Decided to take one-to-one lessons with Palina to also improve grammar and listening and speaking skills. Now at lesson 4 and very happy with my choice :). After saying hello (in Russian of course) the lesson starts with a listening or speaking practice, followed by a short repetition of the grammar rule of the previous lesson and the introduction of a new grammar rule. Keep in mind, however, that the structure of lessons may depend on your level of Russian.

I have had 5 very helpful lessons with a relaxed atmosphere so far. Federica has directly spotted my weaknesses and has helped me to make my practice time more effective and goal-oriented instead of simply playing what I had learned at some point. I have definitely become more aware of things that I can improve and learned how to make progress more quickly. So far, we have combined different exercises on technique with music theory and also worked on my repertoire a little bit.
