Trusted teacher: First of all, I am glad that you found my information here. Unfortunately I'm not pleased that I often find some very bad amateurs try to fake themselves as they are professional pianist or teacher. They display themself fancy as they want since this labor isn't required a certification when it's private lessons. Beginners can not really decide if they are good or not. It is risky for motivated students. I have got some students through this site after having lessons by those fake teachers and I had to do so much work to re-start from the beginning with them. Personally I was struggling to play the piano as well due to my first piano teacher who couldn't teach me properly at all. Several years later, I had rare luck to found better teachers who have certain experiences as concert pianists. I started trying to get rid of my bad behaviors and rebuild new technique over 10 years on the piano. It takes so much time to get rid of.. It was tough work but now I can really tell you what it was and you can see some results on my videos here. I got very conscious of using my body proper way while practicing and I got more flexibilities on the piano. Let me share what I can do with you. Biography Shintaro is considered a unique pianist as performing modern and historical pianos parallel. He spent his childhood and student years in Japan. He already received first prizes at several known national piano competitions in Japan while he was studying at Kyoto City University of Arts. In the year of his master's graduation, he gave a solo recital in Kyoto, and his recital was considered as one of the best performances of over 200 concerts in the year by the AOYMA Music Foundation. He earned The AOYAMA Music Awards in 2010 and graduated master of piano performance in KCUA with summa cum laude. He continued his career as a soloist with several professional orchestras in Japan. Some of those concerts were broadcast on TV and radio. Shintaro continued studying the piano at Lucerne Conservatory with Konstantin Lifschitz supported by Hella Siegrist Fonds and AOYMA Music Foundation. He performed the Left-hand concerto by Ravel with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and James Gaffigan in KKL Lucerne Concert Hall in 2014. "A brilliant pianist with solid technique and sensitivities" - Luzerner Zeitung 2014 “Elegantly and with creative power, Shintaro presented Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat Major KV 449, the layers of sound always audible, the dynamics balanced. It was surprising that the jury awarded him second prize. “ - Freiburger Nachrichten 2015 At the same time, his interests carried forward him to play chamber music, Lied duo, and historical practices on historical fortepianos. He received the first prize at the Orpheus-Swiss Chamber Music Competition participated by master students of all Swiss conservatories in 2014, and the second prize at The Rotary International in Lugano. Shintaro moved to the Netherlands in 2015, and he completed his master of fortepiano (historical pianos) at The Hague Royal Conservatory. He has worked as an accompanist and ensemble pianist for the Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestra, Opera2day, Residentie Orkest in Den Haag, Noord Nederlands Orkest. He also performed Brahms's “Deutsch Requiem” with Shuann Chai on historical piano and Luthers Bach Choir on the tour in 2020, "Mad King" by Maxwell Davies in New European Ensemble on the tour in 2021, a chamber music concert with François Fernandez and Yun Kyung Kim at the Beethoven Festival in 2022. Shintaro is a member of the New European Ensemble for the new opera “Don Quichot” by Vanni Moretto (composer) and Stefano Pintor (Librettist) collaborated with Opera2day and La Fonte Musica in the tour 2023.

Trusted teacher: My name is Carla Peña and I come from Barcelona. Since I was a child, music has played an important role in my life. I started learning music when I was 4 years old and cello when at the age of 6. I discovered my love for music and that is what I share with my students. I have around 15 pupils of all levels and ages and I teach at my own studio (De Constant Rebecquestraat 3) or at your place! If you are in The Hague area and you want to learn the cello or improve your playing, you are welcome to do lessons with me! FIRST LESSON: The first lesson consists of getting to know each other. This is essential to choose the best teaching approach. All the students are unique, that is why I always choose the method that adapts better to your needs. Then, we elaborate a personal plan, depending on your level, expectations, practice time, and taste. TECHNIQUE: Learning the proper technique of the instrument is very important to avoid injuries and to be able to express ourselves and perform our musical ideas in a successful way. That is why we learn nice songs in different styles, depending on your taste (from classical to jazz, film music, pop, etc.) and we combine it with cello method books with progressive exercises to improve the cello knowledge. In the case of young beginners, we also play cello games during the lesson to make the learning experience dynamic and fun! Children can lose attention and get bored very quickly! Playing together is an essential part of enjoying music. Therefore, the last part of the lesson always consists of playing cello duets and having fun! ABOUT ME: I studied my Bachelor in Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, with professor Amparo Lacruz. Then, I decided to continue my studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota. During my studies in The Hague, I did a teaching internship at the Royal Conservatory as a part of their Minor in Music Education. I also taught in several Music Schools during my studies in Spain. Currently, I teach private students in The Hague and I created a cultural center in The Hague called Pandora Studio. I play regularly in two chamber music ensembles: Trio Jakob and Azalaïs Quartet.

Trusted teacher: I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old. By that time I already could feel I would become a professional musician and teacher. I got my first bachelor in piano in 2007. When I was 13 years old, I started having harpsichord lessons and expanding my knowledge of classical and early music. In 2012 I got my bachelor degree in harpsichord and in 2014 my master degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Currently, I’m working with my ensemble, teaching piano and harpsichord, and am now doing my Ph.D. in Performative Arts at Leiden University I absolutely love to teach and pass my experience as a musician to my students on both instruments. I like to see them improving and have fun while playing. I work with several ways of teaching, depending on the student level and music background. Normally I work with piano methods with kids from 9 -12 years old. I can teach music theory if necessary and if it will improve the student’s needs to progress and reach their goals, I do that with pleasure. Harmony and a bit of keyboard improvisation are also very welcome to the class. My specialty is classical music, more specifically, baroque music, although I have notions of pop, jazz, and improvisation. Because I have sporting and personal training backgrounds, I’m specialized also on correcting postures and eventually avoid or solve pain issues when regarding playing.

I've taught at different institutes and private lessons for +5 years; then slowly began to put together my own method of teaching not only piano, but related subjects to help students gain a broader knowledge and be able to take next steps in their music journey even when they're finished with their music lessons.With all the experience I gathered in working with children and adults, I've composed a method of teaching subjects related to piano performance(music theory, music history, improvisation and creative music composing) alongside lessons on the instrument and piano techniques, as the student proceeds and is in need of more broad knowledge. It doesn't matter wether the student is a pupil or an adult, if they have experience in music or not, there's always a lot to discover together in my lessons; based on the students needs and interests. I usually start with basics of the instrument and give students a general lesson on how the instrument works. As we proceed in our lessons, we will cover techniques and more specific skills based on the interest of the student.Our lessons are very flexible regarding class material and my aim is to keep the lessons always fun and informative as well as following the bigger aim of helping the student to be confidant in their music performing and music creation. Each of my lessons is unique and adapted to the student's personality. At first, I usually aim at the acquisition of basic knowledge relating to the instrument. Then, you decide what to learn: from classical guitar to electric or acoustic guitar, from classical music to rock, pop, or folk! For instance, if you want to learn how to play classical music, we are going to work on how to read and interpret a score, acquire a good technique (arpeggios, scales, and control of polyphony) while always focusing on the meaning, the feeling, and the direction of the musical piece. Classical - Jazz - Pop From the age of 7, I trained as a classical trumpet player, and then developed an interest in jazz at 13. I have a Bachelors in Classical music from London, and a Jazz Bachelors and Masters from the Netherlands. Since then he has resided in the Netherlands playing and studying with many musicians from the Dutch and European jazz scene. In 2016 he graduated from Codarts Conservatory Cum Laude having studied formally under the Dutch jazz-master Jarmo Hoogendijk amongst others. In 2018 he graduated with a master’s degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam receiving the highest mark ever to be given by the department. As a band-leader his quartet received 3rd place at the Leiden Jazz Competition in 2016 and in the same year made an appearance at North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2018, his quintet was selected as finalists of both the Keep-an-Eye Jazz Awards and the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition. To date he has made numerous appearances at jazz venues and festivals in and around the Netherlands and currently resides in The Hague (NL) teaching students, giving performances and making music with friends.

My review of Joy's lesson is that he is not only fantastic at his guitar playing but also an enthusiastic teacher that will teach everything you want to know, solve your doubts, and, more importantly, help you to get closer to your musical goal. In my own opinion, he is a patient and amicable teacher that would not mind if I was making mistakes in his class. Instead, he encouraged me and guided me through my mistakes, and provided solutions accordingly to my problems. All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend Joy to all students who want to learn more about jazz guitar to participate in his class because he could really help you to improve.

Adele is a very enthusiastic teacher who really takes her time to instruct and seems very dedicated to what she does. She makes sure she learns you stuff that is practical for the goal you want to achieve. She gives homework that is relevant and helps to practice between lessons. She also knows how to explain pronunciation very well. Apart from just learning the language she also tells a bit more about the cultural background, which is really interesting. Definitely a teacher where I look forward to my next lesson every week.

Violin and Viola lessons for children and adults in Amsterdam (Amsterdam)

Our first lesson was an exploration of the feeling of holding the viola and the bow and of playing some notes pizzicato and with the bow. Maya was enthusiastic, patient and flexible in adapting to what I could and wanted to try. Her calm approach (letting learning sink in, allowing a process of getting used to the playing and learning) made me feel very comfortable and inspired!
