Trusted teacher: ¡Hola! ¿Te gustaría aprender español? My name is Zoe and I am a Spanish native speaker from Castilla (the region of Spain where Castilian comes from!). I have always been very interested in understanding and learning more about my mother tongue and I have been teaching Spanish (for 7 years already) through private lessons to both children and adults who want to learn this language. My teaching method will be adapted to the student: I don't have a fixed method because I believe that each person learns better in a unique way that is adapted to them. I like knowing the student, knowing their motivation to learn and why they want to learn the language. In my classes I use various learning methods, based on play and understanding the logic of the language. Keeping it dynamic! Sometimes I follow the order of modules from a Spanish book, other times I work through stories or through Spanish novels, songs, movies, other people prefer to base the class on conversation, or learn in Spanish about different cities in Spain (language + culture), etc. I always adapt the lessons to the needs and preferences of the student or their parents. - The teaching method will be discussed in the first session, in order to have a clear idea of the student's goal and their preferences. I usually like to divide the class into different parts, depending on the level and age of the student: but there is always a conversational part in Spanish (theory is important, but speaking is when you learn the most). These classes are intended for both children and adults, people who want to prepare for an exam or just enjoy learning little by little, who consider Spanish a hobby or who need to learn Spanish for work, etc. We can do it online or in person and I can adapt the study plan to your goals and necessities! ¡Espero verte pronto! About me: I am a calm and understanding person, very organized and responsible. open-minded and always using imagination and curiosity when getting out of a problem. I am very interested in neuroscience (that is why I am so interested in adapting the teaching method to the student), meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and the mind-body connection. I am currently finishing my master's degree in classical cello at the HKU Conservatorium and would like to stay in Utrecht for a few more years.

Trusted teacher: So far, I have been carrying out 3 different types of lessons: (a) just conversation: Here, the student prepares 5-6 different topics for the lesson, and prepares a document with the topics and short paragraph about each topic. This way, the student can start looking at the vocabulary for the topic before the lesson. Usually, the student sends this document by email 24 hours before the planned lesson. When we start the lesson, the first few minutes are just a few questions, small talk about the last few days and what is going on at the moment. Then, we move to the topics. Each topic takes approximately 10 minutes (more or less, depending on the content). For each topic, the student first introduces the topic and what they know about it so far, then we discuss the issue, I ask some content questions or questions about your views on this subject, etc. These discussions are very helpful for conversation, sentence fluency, and vocabulary development. When the student makes a mistake in grammar, sentence, or word choice, I correct them and help them understand their mistakes. Usually, each student has a little notebook where they note down their mistakes or new words and phrases that they have learnt. During the following lesson, I may ask a few questions about the topics from the previous lesson, in order to refresh the student's memory regarding their previous mistakes and new vocabulary. (b) conversation and description: This is the same as the conversation type (a) above, but there are only 3 topics and it lasts approximately 35-40 minutes. The second half of the lesson is prepared by me. I send a document with 3-5 pictures. The student describes what they see, using position vocabulary, descriptive words, and tried to interpret what is going on in the picture. This is also very good for language development and verbal fluency. After the student finished describing as well as they can, I will describe in a little bit more depth, to make sure that all new words and phrases are mentioned. During following lesson, the first 10 minutes of the second part of the lesson (for picture description) are for a short reviewing of last lesson's pictures, refreshing memory and making sure all words are understood and well-used. (c) conversation and writing: This is the same as the conversation type (a) above, but the last 15 minutes are focused on writing skills. Usually, we look at different writing styles such as formal versus casual, a typical formal email, a typical friendly email, how to ask for help, etc. Of course, lesson types can changes as often as you want! Some of my students had the first lessons in style (c), and then we switched to one in style (a) and one in style (b). I am also very flexible in terms of what you want to do and what you prefer as a student! I hope this information helps you for you decision and if you have more questions, please do not hesitate!

As an adult, embarking in learning how to play the cello without any musical background is a daunting challenge. Hector has made the start of my journey a very pleasant and enriching one. We started with the fundamentals of music theory, have worked through the physical challenges of playing this instrument and continue to build on the right and left hand techniques. He is a passionate cellist who efortlessly welcomes you into the beauty of his art. I'm definitely happy to recommend him as a teacher.

Pamela is an incredible teacher. For sometime I had been trying to find joy in the process of learning to play piano and luckily I found Pamela. Her teaching approach is unique, combining visual methods and tips that help us learn organically. She is also incredibly structured, which is critical to feel that you are evolving at every lesson. At last, her positivity and intuitive understanding of our learning pace helps us to feel motivated all the time.
