Trusted teacher: I am a practicing artist with an BA and MA in Fine Arts by L'Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and by the Sandberg Instituut. My course focuses on giving the students the tools and knowledge necessary for applying to Art School or for funding for more specific projects. I will help you develop a portfolio and guide in the development of the work by analysing with you conceptually and formally. We will engage in a conversation that provides the student with a better understanding of the body of work being produced and presented. The course structures differently depending on the needs of the student, and can range from exercises in theory, practice, translation, synthesis and experimentation, as well as working on presentation and discourse. My practice is specific to sculpture, installation, performance, and space design and can provide insight and tools in these mediums very precisely, but of course we will not be restricted to these as a pluridisciplinary artist. I have a large studio near Oosterpark with many tools and space for creation and experimentation if necessary. Available in the studio: ceramic tools and kiln, metal tools, wood tools, mold making and casting, and many other. The course proposes a methodology from concept, writing, and experimentation, to execution, collaboration and presentation, necessary for a contemporary artist in todays art ecosystem. We will work with context as well: visiting works, museums, galleries and spaces run for and by artists in todays contemporary environment. I have successful experience with the application system for project funding and juried interviews that we can focus on depending on the needs of the student. I conduct very different classes for children as well, in which we focus on material expression and the exploration of formal grammars, learning techniques through intuitive processes and translating the children's narratives and energy into material gestures. Contact me for a portfolio of workshops I've conducted, successful applications and of personal work. Flexible schedule and adaptable courses. I am a native speaker of English, French and Spanish and can conduct classes in any of these languages.

My name is Polly and I am a professional opera singer. I am currently performing as a Young Artist with Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam as part of their brand new Studio Programme. Alongside performing, I have a passion for teaching classical singing to students of all ages and abilities. As a newcomer to Amsterdam, I am looking to build my teaching studio and to share my love of singing! Whether you sing purely for your own enjoyment, are preparing for a big audition or performance, or simply just want to know more about how the human voice works, I am here to help! I previously trained at the Royal College of Music (MPerf, Distinction) and the National Opera Studio in London, as well as working for opera companies including Opera Holland Park, Royal Opera House, Pop-Up Opera, Charles Court Opera, and British Youth Opera. I also achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Voice (both Distinction), so I am able to provide piano accompaniment in lessons. Prior to my Masters training at the RCM, I studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (BSc Hons) at Durham University, which included modules in Animal Physiology. I am therefore fascinated by and have a deep understanding of how the human voice functions. I teach using the SATS model devised by my teacher Janice Chapman, which uses evidence-based science to teach the fundamentals of classical singing. So, no matter what stage you are in your vocal training, I will be able to help to build and strengthen your vocal technique and help you towards vocal freedom and experience true joy in your singing! Languages I sing in include English, Italian, German, French, and, to a lesser extent, Czech and Russian. I have received the input of many world-class language coaches over the years, so I am happy to coach you through the sounds and meaning of texts in these languages.

Trusted teacher: In this unique lesson series, led by Naomi Mitsuko Makkelie, you will explore the powerful connection between art and psychology. With Naomi's academic background in both visual arts and psychology, she offers an in-depth perspective on how painting can serve as a therapeutic medium. This course is designed for individuals of all ages and skill levels who are interested in using painting and drawing as a means of personal development and healing. These classes focus on intuitive painting, a technique that encourages participants to explore their subconscious feelings, memories, and even unresolved traumas. Through this expressive art form, participants are given the opportunity to explore and express their inner world in a non-verbal manner, opening a unique path to healing and self-discovery. What You Can Expect Guidance from an expert in both Art and Psychology: Naomi guides participants through the process of intuitive painting, offering techniques that help bring the subconscious to the surface. A Supportive Environment: Each participant is encouraged to work at their own pace and explore their personal experiences. Personal Development: The focus is on the process, not the end product. Participants learn how to use art as a form of self-care and self-expression. Therapeutic Techniques: In addition to painting techniques, exercises will be introduced that focus on mindfulness and strengthening the mind-body connection. Location: Treehouse NDSM, Amsterdam, or location chosen by the student. For Who?: Suitable for adults, children and teenagers. Duration: Best results are determined when the course involves multiple sessions (exact number and dates to be determined), but a single session is also possible. Materials: All necessary materials are provided. Participants are encouraged to bring personal items that can serve as inspiration. By approaching art as a means of self-exploration and healing, Naomi offers a unique opportunity to grow both as an artist and an individual. These classes are more than an art course; it is a journey into the heart of your own creative and emotional landscape.
