My piano class is designed for students who wish to develop as complete musicians, not only as technicians. The work is centered on building a solid technical foundation, a deep understanding of musical structure, and the ability to make independent, thoughtful interpretative decisions. Technical work is approached systematically and intelligently, always in direct relation to repertoire. Sound production, control of touch, balance, voicing, articulation, and efficient movement at the keyboard are fundamental elements of the lessons. Technical issues are never treated mechanically, but as tools serving musical intention. A strong emphasis is placed on score reading and musical understanding: harmony, form, counterpoint, rhythm, and stylistic awareness. Students are guided to understand why a piece works the way it does, not only how to play it. This analytical clarity allows for freedom, confidence, and consistency in performance. Interpretation is approached with respect for the text and historical context, while encouraging the student to develop a personal and honest musical voice. Different stylistic periods—from Baroque to contemporary music—are addressed with appropriate aesthetic and technical considerations. Lessons are demanding but supportive. The goal is to help each student progress at their own pace, while cultivating discipline, curiosity, and artistic responsibility. The class is suitable for students who are motivated, open-minded, and willing to engage deeply with the music. Ultimately, the aim is not only preparation for exams, auditions, or concerts, but the formation of a musician who can think independently, practice efficiently, and maintain a lifelong, meaningful relationship with music.

Thao is a successful performing pianist and teacher, who is working internationally across Europe. Thao grew up in Warsaw (Poland) where she started the piano and studied at the Chopin Academy. Thao also studied at the Manhattan School of Music (New York, USA), and the Royal College of Music (London, UK). As a performing pianist, Thao has performed recitals and concerts in Poland, the USA, UK, Sweden, and Vietnam. As a teacher, Thao has helped countless students achieve their very best potential. Many students have been awarded distinctions for ABRSM exams for the piano and Grade 5 theory. Students have also been offered music scholarships to leading independent schools in the London area. Thao has been teaching for over 16 years and has spent the last 5 years also teaching online using Skype and FaceTime. Thao is fluent in, and able to teach in Polish, Vietnamese, Russian, and English.

I am a professional musician and passionate teacher. I specialise in violin, viola & piano lessons for ABRSM exams. I have been teaching since 2012, and since 2016 I have also been teaching over Skype. I also studied in the USA at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, and Chicago College of Performing Arts. I work as a professional viola player across the UK and Scandinavia, with such orchestras as The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House (Stockholm), Bergen Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio, Gothenburg Symphony, Norrkoping Symphony, Jonkoping Sinfonietta, Aarhus Symphony, and English National Ballet Philharmonic. I am also a music arranger and transcriber.
