I consider myself to be a wide-ranging opera and concert soloist. Passionate about opera, I have sung more than 30 operatic roles and performed for opera companies in Asia and Europe in many major theatres and festivals, including Opera Hong Kong, Musica Viva, Winslow Hall Opera, OperaUpClose, Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, Passaggio Oper, Opéra de Baugé and more. My operatic roles include Macbeth(Macbeth), Tonio(Pagliacci) and Escamillo(Carmen), among many others. On the concert platform, my past engagements include Haydn's Nelson Mas(Really Big Chorus/Hong Kong Police Choir), J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D Major(Hong Kong Oratorio Society/Village Voices UK), Felix Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht(Hong Kong Oratorio Society), Handel's Messiah(Hong Kong SingFest), Faure's Requiem(Chesterfield Co-operative Choral Society), Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem(The Guild Consort Choir). I received a postgraduate certificate from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Hungary, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where I was awarded the St Clare Barfield Memorial Bowl for Operatic Distinction. Prior to that, I gained my Bachelor of Music from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. I am also an experienced singing teacher for all ages. Besides teaching singing privately for more than 10 years, I was also a music tutor at Parkland Music Limited, Greenery Music & Arts Centre and Canon Music & Arts Centre in Hong Kong. In 2016, I have successfully organized "No Vocalists Allowed" opera workshop, and coached non-vocal major students to sing and perform an opera scenes concert at the New Lecture Theatre at Birmingham Conservatoire. I have also worked as an assistant vocal coach in K. Wah Opera Hong Kong summer school programme 2017, where I trained young performers to participate in Elf the Musical Jr production.

Zhaochi is a bass-baritone. He began his formal vocal studies under Professor Fu Haijing at Jilin Normal University, where he was awarded Second Prize at the Jilin Provincial Vocal Competition during his undergraduate studies. In 2022, he was admitted with first place to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, where he studied with Vita Alba Giuseppina Mosca and Umberto Finazzi. He also participated in masterclasses with Ildebrando D’Arcangelo. He graduated in 2024 with full marks and was a finalist in several competitions, including the Verdi Conservatory Scholarship Competition, the Koligi Vocal Competition, and the Rassegna Internazionale di Giovani Voci Lirico Xu began his professional performing career in 2022 with concerts at the Pagano Opera House and in Southern Italy. He made his operatic debut in 2023 as Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Carcano in Milan. He subsequently appeared in concert in Bussero. In 2024, he performed in concerts in Wrocław, reprised the role of Basilio with the Milan Conservatory, appeared at the Cagnoni Opera House’s Witches Festival, and sang Timur in Turandot at PIME Opera House. In 2025, he performed at Casa Verdi in Milan. In 2025, he was selected for the Eva Marton Young Artist Program at the Hungarian State Opera, where he studies under bass Peter Fried and Eva Marton. During the season, he participated in the Hungarian State Opera’s New Year productions, appearing in Wagner’s Lohengrin and Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus.

Trusted teacher: My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

My specialties are: teaching opera voice and kids’ vocality. For both of these, any level, even absolute beginner is 100% welcome! I’ve been training children and teens ever since I graduated from my position at La Scala children choir at 18 years old. I love working with kids, and it warms my heart to think of how many little faces I have already had the privilege of meeting thanks to this career. I have helped so many access to the children choirs of their respective cities, and with so many many others I have simply participated in their musical learning journey, which makes me equally proud and happy. Teaching adults is a completely different matter, of course, but it’s probably even more thrilling to me because it allows me to spend the day navigating the fascinating routes of lyrical singing technique. I know how opera studies can be confusing - to say the least; I try my best to represent a safe place for anybody who wants to explore this ancient form of art, as well as to clarify its key points and guide my students to building a correct repertoire. I give lessons for any kind of purpose: - learning music - improving musicality - preparing an audition - finding our own voice - overcoming insecurity Everybody is different, so everybody has their own path to go through; I cater my lessons to the pupil’s needs, and even if the method is always classical, I make sure that the hour of lesson is a fun moment as well as a learning experience.
