English Tutoring for secondary school students in Amsterdam and surrounding areasTranslate this text using Google Translate.

English Tutoring for secondary school students in Amsterdam and surrounding areasTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hi there, My name is Anna and I am an English teacher in North Holland. I am a native English speaker currently teaching English at a bilingual school to vwo/havo/vmbo students (secondary school students, equivalent to high school). Next to that I tutor English professionally from A2 to C1 level. If you want to improve your written/spoken English in a professional business setting, then I can assist with this. I can also help prepare students for language exams, or improve their general English proficiency. I have worked as a teacher for over 5 years and during that time I have gained experience teaching to students as young as 4 years old, as well as adults. I am open to tutoring any age from A2 level and up. I am currently available Monday late afternoons/evenings, Wednesday late afternoons/evenings, and Friday late afternoon/evenings. I am flexible on weekends. About me: I studied psychology and organizational leadership in the US. I worked as a primary school teacher and then as a high school teacher in the US, in addition to tutoring independently and at tutoring centers. After relocating here, I attended Utrecht Universiteit to become a certified teacher in the Netherlands. I currently work at a bilingual school and teach English grammar and literature to students between 12 and 16 years of age. I spend my limited free time cooking in excess and feeding my friends/neighbors/colleagues, or exploring the city, or taking care of my two unnamed fish, or attempting to bake (I am bad a terrible baker, ironic given my name!). Ultimately, I am passionate about teaching and learning, so that is how I spend most of my days.

Tutoring and supervision English, Dutch, NT2, Literature, History, Psychology, Philosophy from primary education to MA thesisTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Tutoring and supervision English, Dutch, NT2, Literature, History, Psychology, Philosophy from primary education to MA thesisTranslate this text using Google Translate.

After a turbulent career in the media, marketing and mental health care, I am now back to my roots in education. I am very knowledgeable and was an academic success, but I don't just work with HBO or WO students. I also teach classes in primary education, VMBO, MBO, HAVO and VWO. Below you will find an overview of which subjects I teach and at what level. : PO: Writing, reading, fluency, history, English. English language and literature: up to and including university thesis supervision Psychology: up to and including university thesis supervision. Philosophy: up to and including university thesis supervision Dutch: up to and including 6VWO History: up to and including 6VWO. Reading and writing skills: all levels Presentation and speaking skills: all levels Personal development: all levels. But I have more to offer my pupils than just professional knowledge. I am also educated and experienced in coaching and guidance, so I am not just a teacher, but an expert in personal development. As a therapist I know how to deal with learning or other problems of any kind. So I deliver custom work, for children as well as young people and adults What does a lesson from me look like? Well, that is always a surprise and never boring! My starting point is coaching, so I always work on a good relationship and developing or strengthening confidence in my own capacities, or Empowerment. Everything else comes after that. A lesson of mine is otherwise varied, with relatively short, but very intensive learning moments, and in between small breaks with some distraction. This could be a conversation about something else, or a joke, or an anecdote, so that you get the best out of your concentration and the material remains manageable. I also often work with music, or poems, or paintings that are related to the subject matter, then it sticks better and it is just great fun. I am very inventive and original, so with me you are drawn into an adventure every lesson!

Improve Your English Through Conversations About Movies, Books & LifeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Improve Your English Through Conversations About Movies, Books & LifeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

In this class, we practice conversational English by diving into the stories we love. Instead of dry grammar drilling, our focus is entirely on natural discussion centered on books, writing, and cinema. We will chat about character psychology, narrative themes, and storylines. We can even read and analyze short book excerpts or script pieces together, depending on what makes your heart beat faster. As a writer, I'm especially interested in how language creates emotion, reveals personality, and brings stories to life. Together, we'll explore not only what characters say, but why they say it that way, and how you can use those same natural expressions to sound more confident and natural in your own English. Don't worry—you don't need to be a literary critic to enjoy these lessons. We use stories as a starting point for conversation, not as an excuse to overanalyze every page or scene. Whether you enjoy discussing your favorite novel, breaking down an unforgettable movie scene, or simply chatting about fictional worlds, the goal is to create a relaxed environment where English feels alive and enjoyable. It's all about enjoying the language instead of seeing it as something intimidating. Yes, I will correct your mistakes, but mistakes are one of the most valuable parts of learning. They show us what to improve and help build lasting confidence. My goal is for every lesson to feel engaging, encouraging, and something you genuinely look forward to. This is an open, friendly space for anyone who wants to build real-world speaking confidence, expand their vocabulary, and share their enthusiasm for books and movies. Every lesson is tailored to your interests, goals, and pace, because I believe we learn best when we're genuinely interested in what we're talking about. MULTILINGUAL LISTENING SUPPORT: To make your lessons completely stress-free, you are welcome to use your native language whenever you get stuck. I have a strong passive understanding (listening and reading) of several languages, which means I can easily understand you if you speak or write in: •English (Fluent - MA Degree) •Serbian (Native) •Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese & German (Listening & Reading comprehension) Note: While I mostly understand these languages when you use them, our actual conversation and explanations will be conducted in English or Serbian. TECHNICAL DETAILS FOR ONLINE LESSONS: I conduct my lessons via Google Meet (the easiest option—no installation required, you just click the link I send you) or Microsoft Teams, depending on your preference. During our sessions, we will actively use screen sharing, digital learning materials, and interactive notes to ensure your learning experience is highly effective and engaging.

French private lessons by university graduate in LettersTranslate this text using Google Translate.

French private lessons by university graduate in LettersTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Holder of a Master's degree in Letters and endowed with a solid experience in private lessons, I provide French lessons for students wishing to: - consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling - improve their language skills (allophone students) - improve their speaking skills (conversation classes) -profect the written expression - prepare for ECR exams - prepare for the written examinations at the end of the studies (maturity, certificate of completion) - help with the writing of works of maturity (or other works of end of studies), of dissertation - work on argumentative texts - acquire a method to analyze literary texts - learn how to perform bibliographic research The course material is a Google Docs document that I create in which my explanations, possible links, exercises appear. By reading it regularly, progress will be faster. It can also be used in addition to other documents (files printed by school teachers and/or books) and has many advantages: automatic updating, downloadable on tablets and smartphones, simultaneous monitoring of what is writing. For help with writing: The objective is above all to acquire effective tools. The student will thus be able to learn to structure his ideas, argue coherently (and convincingly) and enrich his vocabulary. It is essential for me to have written work from the student between each lesson. For analyzes of oral literary texts: In order to optimize the time available (and to put ourselves in conditions closest to oral exams), we choose together an extract from a work that the student will have previously prepared before the lesson. This would take around 20 minutes at most, and ideally just a little before the meeting time. If necessary, I have the habit of taking a paragraph at random which would serve as a basis for analyzing a passage. For the corrections of end of studies work: so that the meeting with the student is at the most profitable, I ask him to send me his writings before the meeting. Apart from my presence with the student, any course involves a preparation time before and after the lesson, including the work that I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone. For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages. For adults (FLE): In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. Whether to practice speaking in everyday life, the professional world or to practice oral presentations, I prepare either PPT or technical sheets in advance that I send by mail ( after booking on the website). The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). Giving importance to keeping a written record on the one hand to better memorize the topics covered, on the other hand to better assimilate the spelling. Of a general nature, a concrete situation that responds to the learner's needs is the starting point. From this situation, I address the essential grammatical points.

We are very happy with the French lessons Awni gives to our 14-year-old daughter. He is very flexible and adapts the lessons perfectly to her needs and level! He places special focus on pronunciation, vocabulary, listening skills, and conversation, while introducing interesting topics that make the lessons engaging and enjoyable. He is also willing to adjust the lessons to the homework and topics covered at school, which has been extremely helpful for her progress and confidence in French. Our daughter genuinely enjoys the lessons because Awni is motivating, clear, patient, and kind. He creates a positive atmosphere that makes learning fun and effective at the same time!! We highly recommend him as a French teacher!

Elise is very well structured - thanks to the way how she explains rules in French, it's easier to understand and engage. For the first time I see the light in the tunel :)

Derek really is into your text he wants stuff to be perfect and amazing and he will tell you what you did wrong and how to fix that.
