Beginning with the agricultural revolution, and then the industrial revolution, and then the World Wars, investigate what led up to the Cold War. Investigate the irony of thw historical streams colliding into one with the irony of many newly liberated countries being sucked into the global battle being waged in the north. A look at a dozen of so case examples, to include Korea, Guatemala, Iran, Cuba, Chile, the Congo, Indonesia, Vietnam, Chile, Nicaragua, and Honduras, of the consequences of the Cold War. A look at modern events from Iran, the migration crisis, Cuba, Venezuela, Russian and Ukraine through the lens of the Cold War never having ended.
A look at formal deductive logic as develpoed by Aristotle including the square of opposition, immediate inferences, how to spot faulty formal arguements and how to construct syllogisms. Also, a look at informal inductive logic, a dozen of so common fallacies used in it, and how to make valid inductive arguements.
We could read and discuss any of the books mentioned, or any book of your choice. The idea is to make it like a book club. We read a set number of pages or chapters and then meet to discuss it. Basically, we would ask each other questions about the book as we read it.
