This interior design class introduces students to the principles and processes involved in creating functional, aesthetic, and human-centered interior spaces. The course explores spatial planning, color theory, materials and finishes, lighting, furniture design, and the relationship between form and function. Students learn how to analyze user needs, site constraints, and cultural contexts in order to develop coherent interior concepts. Through lectures, case studies, and hands-on design projects, the class emphasizes conceptual thinking, technical drawing, and visual communication skills, including mood boards, plans, sections, and 3D representations. The course also addresses contemporary issues in interior design such as sustainability, ergonomics, and adaptive reuse. By the end of the class, students will be able to develop and present a complete technical interior design proposal that balances creativity, functionality, and feasibility.
