Language is our means of interpersonal communication. Due to advancing globalization and the possibility of communicating with oneself in any corner of the world, it is becoming increasingly important in the workplace to know one's native language. It's important to me that my students understand the structure of the language, so that intuitive speaking happens through understanding and not through memorization. (You still have to learn vocabulary though ;-) ). I have been teaching languages since my student days and I enjoy it very much.
