Then, when loads are applied to the concrete during its use, these initial stresses enhance its ability to carry loads better. Use less material: It can help reduce the amount of concrete and steel required compared to regular concrete. Greater resistance to tension: Prestressed concrete is more resistant to tensile forces than regular concrete. Uses: Bridges: Commonly used in bridges, where concrete must withstand huge loads. Tunnels: Also used in the construction of tunnels and underground passages. High-rise buildings: They may be used in the construction of tall buildings that require high load-bearing capacity.
