My name is Maaike, I am 25 years old and graduated from the Haarlem Conservatory in May 2018, majoring in singing. From an early age I have enjoyed playing the piano, both classical and popular music, and soon started singing and accompanying myself on piano and guitar. Nowadays I also write songs myself, for myself and others, and I play my repertoire live with a band called MYCA. In June 2021 I completed a master's degree in Songwriting at the Conservatory in Rotterdam. Since 2017 I have been giving private or duo singing lessons, piano lessons, and guitar lessons at home in Haarlem. Do you want to be able to guide yourself? Combination lessons for singing/piano or singing/guitar are also possible! Lessons at home in Bloemendaal, Heemstede, Overveen, or Aerdenhout are also possible, inquire about the possibilities.

I’m Werner, a guitarist and educator from South Africa, now based in Haarlem. I have 33 years of experience as a performing artist, session guitarist, and composer, and 20 years of teaching experience as a private teacher, school teacher, and Music Director. I’ve worked with students from beginners to professionals, composers, and music therapists. A graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford (UK) and holder of a Level 6 Teaching Diploma from RSL Awards, I combine technical mastery with a holistic, creative teaching style. Learn the most common chords and be able to play your first song after just 1 lesson! You will build a solid foundation in guitar playing through carefully selected songs that you get to choose from. Once you get the hang of the fundamentals, you get to tell me which songs you want to learn during our lessons to expand your skills and become more proficient, and I will teach you how to read and play your favorite songs like a master! After learning the more common chords and basics of guitar playing, you will learn about strumming patterns, finger picking, and tabs through the songs of your choice. One benefit of this technological world is that we can find almost anything online if we know where and how to look, which includes most of our favorite songs. All you have to do is give me the names of songs you would like to play, and I will work my magic to help you achieve that goal.
